Mitchell back up. Bringing up the problem with banning someone from running based on an uncertain viability in the future when they would HOLD office. Otherwise wrapping up his argument. Adjourned to 16th of Feb @10
Does this mean there will be a continuation of oral arguments on the 16th?

He can't do a thing with the federal judiciary if Dems keep the Senate. Reps need to play the whole field.

It seems to me that if Trump is barred from being on the ballot based, not on having been duly convicted in court of insurrection, but on feelings and political motivation, then in the future this could lead to any candidate being removed from the ballots for whatever reason by the individual states.

That was brought up by a few justices

I'm still trying to figure out how the events of January 6th actually qualify as an attempted insurrection, or how Trump was directly involved with it.

Because the liberal media told us so!

Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”, is a law of propaganda often attributed to the Nazi Joseph Goebbels. Democratic Socialist handbook.

Alito brought up that if Colorado gets away with this, that other states will follow suit. It was to get Stevenson to identify why the SC should just stop this pandoras box now. Her response was essentially "nahhh, that's not a thing that will happen"
Imagine 30 something Reddish States blocking Biden from their ballots - over the border ("promoting insurrection") or aid and comfort to Iran.

Besides 'two weeks', is there any time frame for a decision?
I believe there's a chance it literally could be two weeks. There are so many points that win the case for Trump, from the states being the 14A enforcer, to POTUS not being listed, lack of due process, and more.
Roberts will probably poll the court. Any unanimous points will be used for a unified per curiam opinion. Any points of contention will be set aside as they would be mooted in this case.
The whole court, I believe, wants this issue dead and buried for good.
