I can't wait to one day attempt shooting at that distance. Once I get my rifle setup and get some time, I am going to try it.

I can't imagine the skill it must take to do it naturally without instruction from a professional.

    Go to Bang Steel.

I did two writeups in the Training section about visits there.

If your rifle is capable of it (and most are, even inexpensive sporting rifles), you will be hitting out to 1000+ yards.

And if you don't have a rifle, Dan will rent you one.

1200 with a .308 is NOT easy. That extra 200 yards makes it tougher, as the bullet is dropping A LOT.

Oh, I spent lots of time with Ed Shell. If you get a chance, you should think about taking a class with him. He'll lay it out for you... All the myths, all the tricks, and everything else.

    Another good choice.

Must looked them up. Sounds like a great place to go and get the initial experience of 1000 yard shooting. I am dying to try.

We should do an MDS group trip to Bang Steel.

That would be kick ass! I didn't realize it was 6 hours away from my house tho.

All of this talk, combined with my new Remington Rifles has sent me on a shopping spree. Just bought a Vortex Viper 6.5-25x44 optic, some Warne Rings and a Wheeler Scope mounting kit.

Easy drive down one day. Shoot two days, drive back next. With a weekend, only 2 days off work.

And could even work a half day, drive down, then start back after shooting second day, and work half day the last day.

So when is the MDS group shoot?

Group within limits, as too many people limits the shooting.

Would like to bring my tripod rest and my 6mmBR just for kicks, but more than likely will bring my 308. Now just need to find a load for the 185 Berbers....worst cars, I can shoot the 175smks.
