That two-piece Arisaka isn't Bubba. M27 with the trench mag may not be either, but I'm not positive.

I can't believe Ruger ripped off the Arisaka when the released the 10/22 take down.

That Mosin/AK pistol combo looks pretty badass. I bet Simo Hayha wished he had that.

^correct, it's a paratrooper model. Not bubba at all.

There are however fakes, Ive heard most actually. Though it has always baffled me where they got the parts, those are not easy things to get.

Its always been on my list so I research it occasionally.

That is a damn fine looking stock.

Gotta do something with that bayo mount though. Bi-Pod maybe?

Can't imagine that stock allows for the use of the original sights.

Do go with some rinky-dink scope base. Do some research.

One of my SKS projects came with the front sight cut off so I just re-crowned the muzzle.

Then I turned down the front end of the gas tube and mounted/soldered a banded K98 base, post, and hood. Definitely different.

That front sight / bayo lug is coming off, just gonna hammer out the pins and pull it so i can reinstall it later to return to stock. I am going to machine a Faux suppressor/compensator and possibly but a different front sight bloc

The stock lines up great with the stock sights. But I am not sure I want keep them with this setup.

I am really tossed at this point as to what I want to do. I was thinking about getting a side mount scope mount or wartak. I am torn because I really wanted to retain the ability to use stripper clips. I don't really care for scout (long eye relief scope) on a rifle.

I was considering scope choices as well and probably would want something with a good field of view as opposed to great magnification as this thing is not going to be a Long distance rifle......

    Decisions decisions....

    newq,

This a little something I came up with for red dot use.

It's a Weaver 92A base. Drill and tapped the base and secured it from inside the cover using Torx head screws that I recessed into the cover for bolt clearance.

Rotated to the left of center, but it is still in line with bore and a stripper clip can still be used.

I start with new covers and hand fit them so there is zero movement. When I'm done, the cover/receiver pin is driven into place so it's locked down tight.

The rifle has to be canted a bit which is not at all an uncomfortable position using a standard style stock. Not sure if it's right for your application, but give it a look.

My concern with mounting anything on the receiver cover is I have heard that because the receiver cover has some play in it, you have trouble keeping zero. Now I don't know one way or the other as I have not tried it personally but believe there may be some truth as mine does wiggle a little from side to side.

I also have been contemplating the whole scope idea and am kinda thinking about possibly going with something like a fixed 4x acog or similar. This rifle doesn't need alot of power as you lose its accuracy much beyond 200 yards anyway.

What were your thought on it ?

The rifle looks very merry, with that fountain of happiness gushing from the breech.

I'll bet unicorns and rainbows come out the muzzle.
