    I figured the side one would be a designator to compliment the NVG's bit what the one on the top?

    Wow...thought you were just joking around.

    The one on top is a DBAL made by Laser Devices...it can emit a visible red laser or an IR laser or an IR laser with IR illuminator. The tan one on the side is a Surefire weapon light capable of emitting white light or IR light.
