Introduced by DiFi and the usual crew.

I noticed this detail in her press release. I think it's an important one.

Under current law, individuals who are known or suspected terrorists and do not fall into the one of the nine prohibited purchaser categories can legally purchase weapons. While the FBI is notified when individuals on the terrorist watch list apply for a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check system, it does not have the authority to block the sale.

According to the GAO, between February 2004 and December 2015, known or suspected terrorists initiated a background check to purchase a weapon 2,477 times—they successfully passed that check 2,265 times, or 91 percent.

I wasn't aware that the FBI gets notification - if that's the case, what else do they need? If the FBI decides that the guy is a threat, then they simply investigate him. We're talking about 2,500 notifications per decade, and even fewer individuals - less than one guy/day. This should be easily handled by the FBI under the existing scheme.

The dems sense blood in the water. As long as it doesn't infringe anyone's rights, we may be better off giving them a "delayed" while the FBI runs a better background check, and sets up surveillance.

My point is that we already have a mechanism in place to prevent terrorists from committing these types of crimes - and it's the current one. No need to suspend due process.

We should be making this point.

Maybe they should make it illegal for violent felons to get guns too.....oh, wait.....

This should work just as well.

Just wait until DHS "Security Forces" detain and sequester Congress.

Time for a MDS Terror Watch List Picnic/BBQ to compare rankings.
