    Lawsuit made it to WaPo:

Baran, an emergency room nurse, bought a gun and practiced shooting until she could hit a small target from far away. She’s applied for a permit that would allow her to take her gun almost anywhere she goes. Her application is pending.

    :clap::clap:

The earliest release date of her ex though is 2032.

But she’d rather not kill. Baran, who described herself as a begrudging gun owner, would rather incapacitate an attacker with a Taser. But the county where she lives in Maryland makes stun gun ownership illegal for civilians. Taser International won’t even ship the device to her home, her lawsuit says.

Now she’s suing two counties in Maryland — Baltimore and Howard — to let her carry an electronic stun gun, a constitutional challenge she hopes can save her life without costing another’s.

Her argument is buoyed by a recent Supreme Court ruling that raised questions about the constitutionality of stun gun bans.

Evidently they even did their research:

But the Baltimore County attorney placed an editor’s note on the part of the code that bans stun guns. It says the county code is abrogated by the recent Supreme Court decision in Caetano v. Massachusetts.

Oddly, I find the article well written and unbiased. Maybe they had help from Volokh.

Kinda hard to argue against a 8-0 SCOTUS...

Credit where credit's due. Good article from WaPo.

The New York DA just filed its motion to dismiss. We should get another one from the state later today as well.

I think I'd get any check from NY blown up to Publisher's Clearing House-sized and frame it somewhere.
I thought Part IV was quite humorous.

After you get through SCOTUS' trashing of the MA court's reasons for upholding the ban, what other plausible reasons are left? Dangerous AND unusual is the only one I think of, and there's no way in hell a stun gun is considered "dangerous" but a handgun isn't.
They're likely banking on the liberal 2nd Circuit to give them a pass and hoping SCOTUS passes on the case.

I hope somebody can grab the illustrious Mayor saying "if it was up to me, nobody would have a gun or a knife or anything" to be filed away for future use.

Right. And didn't the 9th Circuit use that Trump's campaign words against him in the immigration case?
Seems fair game, although call me skeptical that liberal judges would use things like that against the dear mayor.

    Typical

Annapolis wants to placate you, and string you along. If they are serious about a remedy, they will drop their ordinance.

So Annapolis is looking for a settlement limited to "your client." Sorta missing the point aren't they....?

I wonder if this can be made into a political lose-lose for the county council?

Something like "council member not keeping us safe from those evil tasers" while asking "why didn't realize you were denying us non-lethal 2A choices..."

    Wishful thinking, perhaps.
