Good to have you here. You will find that if you do your homework and shop around you will find the shops that ask way to much and the shops that have very good prices.

I'm on day 2 of my 7 days for my new Springfield XDs 45. I bought it from Clyde's and got it for $120 less than the most expensive gun store I shopped.

A store like bass pro has some very knowledgeable people as well as some that are not so much. But you can do better on price then bass pro if you shop.

I actually got a pretty good deal on the XD 45. Maybe it was on sale? All the other guns there did seem to have a high markup though. XDms were WAY overpriced.

That's typical - XDMs, much like Glocks, are getting to be fairly well known by the general public, and those are the people who aren't going to have the wherewithal or tools to do some comparison shopping to find the best deal.

"Also our laws here are a bit restrictive. May want to read up on what we can buy or do out here."

Yeah I had a pretty hefty supply of 30 round magazines for various weapons that I was worried about. To my knowledge, you can own them but just not purchase them in Maryland, correct?

Absolutely you can own hi cap mags in MD. Though I would be cautious taking them to public ranges. Some may have rules against it. Others may give you a hard time.

Correct that you cannot buy in MD but I suggest going to a place like Cabelas in PA or WV. It's a nice drive, PA has a food court. And across the street is a jewelry shop for her( woman's version of cabelas).

You buy Mags, she buys earrings. Win win.

Word of advise on your xD. Pay CLOSE attention to what ammo you use and how much you load your mag. For me I cannot use hornaday steel match 230gr HAP. It simply jams both on ejection and insertion. Not sure why but I can use standard brass rounds of same weight, same brand fine. I cycle federal 230 hydro shocks no problem either.

Also I don't fill my mags to 13 rounds. I stop at 12. It just seems to feed best and don't feel as much tension when I got rack (eject and insert full mag with round in pipe).

Just an FYI. When you try new ammo buy a small amount and test it first. Cycle manually then take to range.

First time I ever heard that.

I have 10 hi cap 30rd mags without issues locally. I also have 15 20 round magazines. I've taken the 30 rounders to a couple ranges and I've been "informed" they cannot be purchased so how did I get them. When I left they asked I bring 20 round mags going forward to avoid "questions".

This has happened a few times at 3 ranges. Soooo I bring my 20 rounders to ranges. No big deal I prefer it now because a box of ammo is 20 so it's a box a mag. Less counting. ;)

Ok, it's silly, but it's their range, their rules.

If you had OCD counting wouldn't be a problem...:D
