Smokers BBQ off 140 in Carroll County, Finksburg, has closed its doors. I loved their BBQ. The website claims the volatile economy to blame, but it was always busy every time we visited. I went every weekend for my pulled pork, spicy fries, and great fountain Pepsi, and the misses her BBQ chicken. No no NO!

I'm SO bummed! Carroll has so few places. There's Smokeys in Eldersburg, and CarterQue in Mt. Airy. Anything else nearby? I was spoiled by the fabulous BBQ joints throughout the south, and these places are the only ones I've found with decent food.

I've started a quest for the area's best BBQ...

A fond memory of Smokers: a dear friend of ours died way too young in a car crash. He is buried in the cemetery in Finksburg (don't remember the name) across Rt. 140 from Smokers. We had an annual gathering of friends at Larry's grave, one thing lead to another and we wanted food delivered to us. Call to Smokers, we told them where we were and what we wanted (a couple hundred bucks of food). Gal says, "uhhh, hang on...yeah sure I'll bring it." Paid with credit card over the phone. When she delivered the order, the receipt had the delivery address: "Cemetery - LOL"

I always thought it was sub par food.

Charcoal Deli in Cockeysville is my favorite.

I try to get down there once a month for my pit beef.

The place in Taneytown was "meh" at best...

The Mrs. and I love Chubby's in Emmitsburg. Definitely worth the drive.

    +1 for Kloby's. That's my go-to place.

Speaking of Laurel, RG's Bbq Cafe gets a lot of good press. It used to be the BBQ House but the name and menu changed when it went under new ownership.
