I’ve been looking at the Icarus, what didn’t you like about it??

I didn’t like the how the grip would constantly have moisture from sweat or temperature change. I could of probably used some goon tape or something but never really was able to get a consistent purchase when practicing drawing and shooting. This was the Pro Elite. The Evo might be a little different because I think the stippling is a bit more aggressive. There are plenty of people that love and run them, for me if I need to use it, I want to have complete confidence.

P365X with Wilson Combat grip module. Back when I got the X, they were very difficult to find. I finally found a few up at JLowes in Rising Sun, couldn't believe they had 4 at the time, when no other dealer I went to could get any. I almost bought the XL, and in retrospect, I wish I did, but the only XL they had came with a Romeo Zero Red Dot, and I prefer Holosun. Crazy thing is, I've been shooting up at the Bel Air Gun Range and they sell as well, lowest prices I've seen. They had an XL a couple weeks back that cost less than what I paid for my X. And, they had a Spectre Comp for less than $1K, it was 9 hundred something. Every other place I've seen selling Spectre Comps were selling for at least $1,200 or higher. They said they make most of their money from the range, so they can sell pistols for much lower prices than other dealers. They sell the P365's for about $545.

Has anyone upgraded from the P365 to the P365X? Was it worth it?

I started with an X so didn’t upgrade as you asked.

When you say upgrade, are you thinking of buying a complete X or just the grip module?

The only difference is the grip module, straight vs curved trigger and a longer mag. Depending on the generation, they changed the rear sight plate so the sights are separate from the red dot cover.

Buying a grip module and one mag is about a hundred bucks. You can always sell them if you don’t like it vs buying a complete X.

You can also replace the curved trigger as well if you want.

ETA: I wouldn’t call the X an upgrade, just a different configuration. I will say I love my X. It’s the perfect size ratio for general carry IMO.

What you use for your IWB holster? I have the XL but still haven't found a holster I like
Tenicor Certum3 all day for the XL. Very worth the price. If you're looking for leather, the Azula Lined IWB is comfortable AF and tight on the gun, but lacks the bit of extra retention of a kydex. It has a low ride and places the grip just above the WB.

I’m thinking of getting a plain vanilla 365 for my wife to carry. But she’d need a holster appropriate for inside a purse. Any suggestions?

I carry a plain vanilla P-365. I use a leather IWB that is not expensive (about $40 IIRC). It carries well and has good retention. But it is not smooth to reholster. I am not worried about reholstering in real world since I can just slip it in my pocket afterward if I ever have to use it. I have a better IWB holster which I use occasionally but is not as comfortable. Also a Blackhawk paddle holster. I use both of the latter for classes or matches.

I use the plain P-365 because I like the way it shoots and don’t feel an overwhelming need for 17 rounds in a magazine.

Have you thought about just a trigger guard for inside the purse carry? I use one something like the one at the link for my G43x when I carry in a winter coat pocket. My wife uses one on her 43x inside her purse--

I have two I switch between. Most of the time I use a Tier1 Concealed IWB (Axis Elite.) If I am trying to be minimal, I use a T-Rex Arms Sidecar (without the sidecar). The sidecar I can put wither appendix or 4 o’clock depending on my outfit.

Thank you! This is extremely helpful. What do you think about having an optic on your carry pistol? A few folks tell me it’s always getting snagged

Best Practices ( IF one does purse carry at all) is a purse designed on purpose for gun carry .

Next best is a compartment within a purse that can be secure , and the the gun in a basic pocket type holster .

Just my .02. I have an optic on a 365 with a standard length Wilson body and it works great for me. I use a Holosun 407C green sight which works really well with my astigmatism. Practice has made bringing up the dot the same as aligning open sights to me.

    Update to my last reply:

I’ve been using/carrying a P365X for the last year. Fired over 1,000 rds with no malfunctions, except for 1 stovepipe, but I’m pretty sure it was my fault due to limp wristing the shot. I knew & felt it as soon as it happened so that one’s on me. Otherwise, it’s been a perfect shooter.

I’ve made a few upgrades to the 365X including a Wilson Combat grip module & tungsten rods, NICE grip module. Also added an extended mag release and NDZ aluminum mag finger extension base plates (got the plate bottoms engraved so I’ll know they’re mine if someone tries to “borrow” them). The NDZ aluminum plates allow me to get a full grip without my pinky slipping off the bottom of the grip module and makes the 12rd grip module feel larger. I highly recommend them.

Although I love my P365X, I think I’m now REALLY in love as I picked up a Sig X-Macro Tacops last week and ran a little over 200 rds since I was already at the range, with absolutely no problems or malfunctions. I ran MagTech 115gr., FMJ for most of the shots, but I also wanted to make sure it fired my carry ammo without any problems, so I also ran 25 rds of Hornady 115gr., Critical Defense HP’s, all ran perfectly.

Sig did a great job installing the sights because this Tacops is extremely accurate, or I’m becoming a much better shooter, or maybe a combination of the two, lol. By the time I was finished putting her through her paces, the target had about a 5” diameter hole directly in the red center of the target. Also did about a dozen head shots, just because.

The Macro grip module is sweet, fits much better in my hand, feels very comfortable, and came with 2 extra back plates for the grip module (which gives me a choice of small, medium, large) so I can customize the grip to get the best fit for my hand.

The extended sight picture of the XL slide helps with accuracy, along with the longer 3.7” barrel, and I felt a very noticeable reduction in recoil with the Tacops than my 365X, probably due to the longer barrel and larger grip.

The extended slide stop is super easy to work with my thumb, much easier than the slide stop on my 365X. The mag well is nice, I guess it helps with mag loading, but I could probably take it or leave it, but it is nice. The mag release is ULTRA smooth. I’ve seen some guys flick their wrist while depressing the mag release and the slide comes flying out. I tried it and damn, it also worked for me as well, lol.

The Tacops came with 4 - 17rd mags, yeah buddy, those mags sell for about $60.00 each, so getting 4 of them was a nice bonus. It also came with a small/slim mag loader, haven’t tried it yet as I really like my UpLULA, also came with a cable lock, padded case, paperwork, etc.

Only “downside” was that my 365X Wilson grip module has the stock Sig rail, while the Tacops has a Pic rail, so I had to order more holsters, which I really didn’t mind, lol. I carry OWB at 3 o’clock and love my Tulster Contour holster, so I ordered another Tulster Contour for the Tacops that would accommodate the pic rail.

I work from home and always carry, so I use a Blackhawk Stache N.A.C.H.O. belly band while at home and love that thing. Went through several others before finding the Blackhawk, but the Blackhawk is the best belly band I’ve found, so I also had to order another Stache holster for the belly band to fit the Tacops.

Love them both but the Tacops has really been singing to me. I’ll probably carry the Tacops during Fall, Winter, and maybe into Spring since I’m usually wearing heavier clothing, then will switch to the 365X in the Summer when wearing lighter weight clothing like shorts & T-shirts.

BTW, if you carry OWB, check out the OWB double mag pouches from Bravo Concealment. They’re the most comfortable and most “invisible” mag carrier I’ve tried.

Two things I keep reading about for the Sig P365 is the Wilson grip module and extended mag release. Are they really worth it?

Now I'm intrigued by the NDZ magazine extension base plates too. So far I just carry my 365X as is - currently sporting some Hornady Critical Defense ammo.
