 Decisions, decisions...I am about to get a new blade but only have the coin available for one of these three from the listed retailer:

I say get the Spyderco. I'm not a big fan of ZT based on the ones I've played with. And the fixed blade Bowie looks fun but in reality how much will you use it. My honest opinion is none of the above and check out the new 2018 Benchmade line. Some awesome knives just got released.

Dont see many kitchen knives in this thread but here's mine. I got the set below for Christmas and so far I give them a 8 out of 10. By far the nicest kitchen knives I have ever owned but I wish the blades were a little thicker on some of the smaller knives. They're sharp as hell and my new favorite knife is that little curved paring knife. Does so much I think everyone should have one. We'll see how the edges hold up but for now so far so good. And these things get a workout, I cook 7 days a week.

Direct from Nepal, with the smith's bios for each:

I am impressed with the balance. The price is decent, but shipping is a factor due to location.

Cpm-m4 DLC coated manix2 with all black hardware and natural scales? You best believe smokey's gotta have it. I've got a boner for m4 ever since I picked up my contego.

Cpm-s110v and some others promise better wear resistance, but I've found it's at the expense of toughness and edge stability. In real-world tasks, s110v falls quick to a working edge, but keeps it forever. M4 is easier to get razor sharp and loses an edge more linearly, but is brought back quick with a stick and strop.

Snagged a ZT 0452CF at the Outdoor show, guy has ZTs and benchmade well under internet pricing, thought it might be a fake or XXXXed out blem, nope, just 40% off of MSRP. The detent is stiff, flipper is close to the axis, so it flies open fast as hell. Blade is really long for the size of the slim handle, at 4.1" it's the longest blade on any of my ZTs, but the skinny knife is also the lightest., a bit odd dimensions for an EDC, but as a "folding steak knife" for food prep, and cutting up food for kids, there are few that are better.

Nice find! How do you know if they aren't fakes?

Nice find! How do you know if they aren't fakes?

Usually a lot of small details, machined where it should be stonewashed, washers instead of bearings, paint instead of etching, wrong pocket clip, wrong marking or wrong font, printed info on the box where it should be a sticker or vice versa. Depends on how good the fake is, some are painfully easy to spot with a steel scale that should be Titanium, or plastic instead of Carbon fiber or G10, others can be really close. Checking the seller to see if they are a dealer/distributor too, can always check the serial# with the manufacturer too. This one from Five star cutlery out of NJ is GTG.

Messing around with Gopro slow-mo, drag race between my new ZT 0452 and a BM Casbah auto, knew it was fast, but flips opens just as fast as a pretty quick auto with 3/4" less blade length. The flipper is a little small, and was really tight for a day or two, but has loosened enough to be comfortable, just add pressure, and soon as it overcomes the detent the blade flies out. Further proof how stupid the FSA 58 is.

Craigslist score for the day. A few MK1s , MK2s ,M3s and Pal 36s . He also threw in a few Silvey and Cole books plus the display case.
