    Behind enemy lines...
I retired recently for the 2nd time. First time military, 2nd time as a fed. I just finished some bushcraft knives for some guys I used to work with at DHS. Not professional level by any means, but each handmade and unique. 1084 steel with Peruvian walnut scales.

Got an extra one for sale ?
None that are completed, but I have three more of this design in the hopper. The one on the left in the pic below I heat treated the other day and I just need to put scales on and make a sheath for it. The other 2 I've only filed the rough bevels in. The method I use is stock removal vice hammering away at steel in a real forge. I start with annealed bar stock and work from there. I've found I get more pleasure in making these knives when I hand file the bevels in vice using a grinder. Besides, my 2x42 grinder sucks and I've screwed up more blades faster by using it. So I take the slow file-it-by-hand route using a jig that I built to file in the bevels..see pic. Recently I've been focusing on my version of the french trade knife (coureur de bois), I've made 4 so far and 4 more are ready for drilling pin holes and heat treating. I kind of like the look of these blades. Sort of an unfinished, rustic look. See the 3rd pic. Once completed I toss them in to my box 'o knives and move on to the next one. Pretty much all of my knives have a couple of blemishes, boo-boos or aw-sh!ts, but I continue to try to minimize them, but I believe they are strong blades that will last a lifetime if properly cared for. My sense is that there are many other MDS members out there who are far more skilled at knifemaking so I'd be thrilled if someone wanted to actually buy one. Since this is only a hobby for me I think I'd only charge for the materials used for each knife. I figure it takes about $25 to make a knife, including leather sheath. My box o' knives are just sitting there....maybe I should try to sell some of them. Any interest?

Maybe from me. Can you show me pics of the red handled one and the one on the bottom right? Thanks.

Here you go. Both are examples of earlier builds. Smaller bushcraft is 1/8" (.125) thick 1084 hi carbon steel and G10 orange/black scales with 1/4" nickel pins. 4 1/2" x 1 1/4" blade, overall length 8 1/4". This is a smaller bushcraft knife. Sheath is very basic, again, an early attempt at making sheaths. Second knife is also 1/8" 1084, with red acrylic scales, 1/8" nickel pins and lanyard tube. 5" x 1 1/2" blade, overall length 9 3/4". NO SHEATH for this one...never got around to making one for it. Can send more pics....If interested let me know...if so, perhaps we should use the text/conversation feature going forward as to not incur potential wrath of mods for conducting biz on this forum...thanks, scott.

never saw the need to carry a big blade but a nice 3" or a hair shorter seems to be the right size. I love my Emerson knives. Not fancy flippers with exotic materials but a good hard use working mans blade. The lock up is tight and no blade play. Pricey but worth it!

I was recently given an Emerson as a gift from a good friend. Did some research and realized how nice of a knife it is.

Lets see a pic... what model is it?
yeah they are nice and i hope you put it to some use.
I rotate my EDC depending on my work location but normally it is the Emerson CQC7 mini or a Zero Tolerance 0350 .
