BEFORE you spend over $200 on an aftermarket trigger, I highly recommend you spend $35 on a volquartsen target hammer. It takes 15 minutes to install if you're inexperienced and drops the trigger pull from 7lbs to 2-3 lbs. Mine is down to 2lbs and my friends is 2.5lbs. Mine is more broken in though so that may be a factor of why mines lower.

Brownells.com is a good place to check.

The autobolt, I can't see why anyone would pay for it. It takes maybe 20 minutes at most to do the mod at home.

One of my 10/22 has the Vorquartsen hammer in it. Not Bad, but not as good as the Timney. It still has a bit of creep in it which the Timney does not. But for the price difference it is a Very good value.

Does anyone know the length these are threaded to? .400"?

If it's threaded to AR specs, it might be better just to buy an unthreaded model and have it done right .

I had a kidd in my 10/22 TD. Removed it and installed the volquartsen target hammer. The only difference I can tell is that the kidd was a two stage and the volquartsen hammer was $170 less. Timneys are great but again, cost a lot more. Start with a $35 hammer and if you don't like it, get something else. It's $35.

I'm going to try the hammer, thinking about the buffer for $11 and the extended mag release for $19, going to sleep on it

FWIW, I installed an extended mag release on my 10/22 Takedown, and while I enjoy the convenience, my clear 10 round mags stick a bit more and are harder to drop. The standard 10 round rotary mags are not a problem, nor are the BX-25 mags.

I find the bolt release, among the inexpensive mods, to be my favorite. The Volquartsen target hammer mod, which I haven't tried, also sounds appealing.

Threading a 22 is like getting a 1911 slide cut for dovetails. It's way cheaper to buy one that's already had the work than to have it done.
