If you had a carry permit, would it be legal to go hunting and drive home without unloading your gun?
I never thought about that. That's the great thing about stabilizing braces... hunt with a 16" 300 blk upper, then when you're back at your car toss on a sba4 and a 9" 300blk upper. You now are transporting a handgun that you're permitted to have in the car with you.

@remrug No. The firearm has to be unloaded, as it states, "Inside a vehicle, the gun should be in a compartment separate from the driver's compartment while also separating the firearm and ammunition. It should be in a locked container and it should not be in the glove compartment or console." (Okin, S, n.d., Legally Transporting A Firearm).
That’s what the AG said.@remrug No. The firearm has to be unloaded, as it states, "Inside a vehicle, the gun should be in a compartment separate from the driver's compartment while also separating the firearm and ammunition. Yep.That’s what the AG said.
How would you put a rifle or shotgun in the glove box or console?
With a handgun permit, keep your handgun in the holster and it’s legal.
this is correct , dnr lurks on state land to write tickets for this .You can’t have Shells/cartridges in your shotgun/rifle at any point if it is going to be in the vehicle. On the vehicle. Touching the vehicle. This is DNR regulations.
This goes for Private and Public property
