    Here is the Senate version reposted so you don't have to search for it. Major difference between the Senate and House version HR.38 is the Senate version has NO provision to allow home state carry on a NR permit. The House version does.

    The problem is the only thing they want now is to run interference, because the budget is good through September now.

    It requires some creativity. Put some token (and vulnerable to court challenge) gun control measure onto the bill, like the terrorist watchlist purchase ban, and any who vote against it will be soft on terrorists. The moderate Dems will be in a bad bad spot.

Did a short intro then interviewed former BaCo Chief and chief gun grabber Jimmie Johnson who espoused Maryland's violation of your fundamental right as a good thing, then followed with Andy Harris saying it's a federal right that needs to be protected and enjoyed nationwide.

    It is entertaining when politicians go from States rights to Federal, depending on which side of the issue they are on.
    E.g. , The Republicans really pound state's rights concerning abortion.

    COTUS was cited. Roe v Wade was decided on the basis of the 14th A , Right to privacy.

    Nine Justices give us our rights. There are no "God Given Rights". The idea our Constitution gives us unalienable rights is a fallacy, when we have granted full power to our court (people) to rule on it. The more one wants to argue our rights come from COTUS, the more you are submitting to SCOTUS. Look how animated we all become when a new Justice needs seated. They wield our rights, not the pen on paper. Get a bunch of leftist judges, and today's interpretation of 2A would no longer be recognizable.

    Since we're taking about the Fourteenth, let's not forget the second half of Section 1, "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." That brings us back to the definition of a person. Since several states have fetal murder laws, a reasonable case could be made before SCOTUS for the personhood of the child.

    I am missing your point. You are describing the administration of our rights, not the standard. The standard is as described in the COTUS, yes? Our rights (the first ten) are described by the COTUS but do not come from the COTUS, as you say. They come from our creator, as it says. So are you saying we have forfeited those rights by allowing the nine to usurp them?

    When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

    The way I read it, according to the Framers, the original 10 Amendments are "self-evident" because they are "the Laws of Nature"; they are GUARANTEED by the Constitution, NOT granted as a result of it or at the discretion of men (in robes). If the Constitution were repealed today at 6pm, the civil rights enumerated in the original 10 Amendments would remain as Natural Law (every living creature has the right of self-defense). Keeping (owning) and Bearing (carrying) arms was viewed by the Framers as implicit in that Natural Law.
