    Updated with photos.

Anyone snag one of these yet? I have one on order at Engage that I'm turning into a project gun. Should be at the shop on Friday, and I can't wait to tear that sucker down.

Can't wait to see the pics, you usually do a fantastic job taking them.

R1 in Stainless came in today. The paperwork dance begins, but Andy at Engage graciously allowed me to do some gratuitous gun porn.

Everything on the gun looks fine. Obviously, there's a fair amount of MIM parts, but I knew that going in. I have a number of things I plan on swapping over the next few weeks and months.

I hope you at least wait until the 2 year warranty is up before you start dumping a bunch of parts into it. They will null your warranty if you start putting parts into it. There have been people on other forum who sent there self modified R1 1911 back to Remington - only to find the add on parts in a ziplock back along side the pistol, and the repair bill to make it right.

The R1's have a pretty good service plan for 2 years - unless you start butchering up the pistol - then any warranty repairs needed will be on your dime, including the shipping back to the factory if needed.

I'm not too worried about it. I'll be fitting the parts to the gun, not the gun to the parts, if you know what I mean. I wouldn't expect them to honor a warranty on a gun that a customer buggered up.

Dammit. I think that's the one piece of LaRue swag I don't have yet. Guess I need to get that OBR so they'll send me one...

What holster are you thinking of, sir jawn? And if I see an idiot radius on it I will invoke the power of JMB punch you in the face with the force of a .50 BMG bullet in order to give you a black eye to match.

I'm either going to get another Comp-Tac shell, or something OWB and leather. Alternatively, I may have to rock the Miami Classic. I think we need to have a shiny 1911 BBQ.

Saw some of these at the Chantilly show yesterday, I think they were in the upper $600's. Need a 1911, I liked the R1's I saw yesterday and they all seem to be reasonably priced.

    As a side note, the Remington 1911s are all Series 80s, if that's a deal-breaker. I don't particularly mind.

Listen to this man. The stigma of MIM has been greatly exaggerated.
