Looking to pick up a .22 to do some competition shooting. Nothing serious just fun. Wanted a P322 but the fine folks in Delaware have banned it. Looking for suggestions. Fired a Glock 44 today. Was ok. Not a fan of a 10 round msg.

The Ruger 22/45 is a very nice pistol, available in many configurations.

I second, third and forth on this. This is one of the most accurate out of the box .22's. Additionally, it has loads of aftermarket support. My 22/45, with a stock 4 inch barrel, out shoots my model 41 Bullseye pistol with a six inch barrel.

This! I shoot my MKIV 22/45 more than any other handgun. They work well, and have an endless supply of aftermarket parts/upgrades.

Strongly agree. I have the competition model and love it. Everyone that shoots it, especially suppressed, is like "this thing is fúcking awesome!"
The suppressor thing is a problem in DE. If it’s suppressor threaded it’s a no go in DE. I love the P322. Just can’t buy one.

I see you're in Delaware, though there is a vendor at the Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly VA who usually has three or four S&W M-41's for sale. Maybe he hits shows in your area. Many friends and I love our M-41's, some of whom shoot them competatively with great success.

    Taurus TX22 is a great 22 shooter.

I also have a TX22. I bought it this pass summer. The original barrel was no good and bullets were keyholing with every ammo I tried. I contacted Taurus and was sent another barrel. It also started keyholing after about 200 rounds were fired though this replacement barrel.
The gun functions really good for a rimfire. The size, weight, and feel in the hand are great, but the barrels I’ve received are no good. I’ll be contacting customer service again, and hopefully they will send me another barrel. I’ve always heard their customer service was terrible , but they have been very good to me so far.
    Until I get a barrel that works I can’t recommend the TX22

I knew they had a bad early run of barrels, but the later ones should be ok. I'm over 1000 rounds through mine. I hope they get you squared away and I'm sorry you've had issues

Like the steel plate above. Just a little fun. But would rather not bring a .45.
Steel challenge is all about speed with big and relatively close targets. The Ruger Mk series are really fast cycling, accurate, shorter models are balanced well, and tons of aftermarket parts. Most use a Mk something with VQ parts, or a VQ variant. The 22 pistol divisions are for irons or a dot, and MK can mount either one easily to try both divisions. The rest is a balance between bull barrel weight helping stability and reducing recoil vs faster/lighter from a lightweight barrel

Buckmark, like the Ruger, but better.

There are a lot more aftermarket parts for the Ruger, but a Buckmark is better out of the box.

I own both and am considering a Black Mamba right now. But I always bring buckmark to the range with me.
