Ranges at Ft. Meade CLOSED

Due to the expected weather and pending hurricane this coming weekend Oct 3rd and 4th, the ranges at Ft. Meade will be closed.

The Little Patuxent will flood the ranges at Fort Meade in a heartbeat. Tipton airfield will also be underwater.

Tipton will not be under water and has not been under water in the 38 years I've been in Maryland. B-90 might get flooded.

You mean MPD cops. They are ALWAYS there when I go.

Not that familiar with exact layout of Tipton, but The alphabet agency lost vehicles parked there last year due to flooding, might have been B-90 area.

The back area that NSA now uses as a motor pool always flooded when they had the Chinooks there. I know, I walked through it.

Anybody??? I'm only 20 mins from Ft Meade and having access to an outdoor range that close by would be the cat's ass. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Fort Meade range is actually run by NSA and has several clubs shooting on it. I was a member for many years before 9/11when they changed the access rules. You can only shoot on certain days and must enter/exit at certain times at one gate controlled by DOI personnel. At least that is how I recall it but haven't been there in maybe 14 years.

I know we have members on this board that belong to one or more of the Fort Meade clubs. Hopefully they will fill you in.

There are two clubs that have access. Meade Rifle and Pistol Club that is the NSA based and the Fort Meade Rod and Gun Club. While catering to Gov/Mil I believe they will take outside members. MRPC is a AGC affiliate. Meade range access is limited and tightly controlled. Ie, there are certain entrance/exit times that DOI police open the gates.
