Anybody concerned that multiple purchases (in anticipation of 10/1/13) will attract unwanted attention?

I've been advised against buying "too many" all at once (I got my collector certification last spring).

I figure that a lot of folks are doing likewise, but I'm not anxious to get on, "the list."

Anyone ever receive inquiries as a result of purchases? Anybody concerned?

Of course, prior to this foolish legislation, I hadn't bought a single gun in years, and might have gone my whole life without buying another...

What sort of attention are they going to give you above and beyond the current anal inspection they make you go through now? HQL isn't in effect; they have no legal basis to execute a warrant against you. If you have your DC, then the State has waived its grounds to hold you to the 1 gun a month law. So what do you think they're gonna do?

I have purchased 20+ firearms since 1/2013 - no I am not concerned in the least - all were purchased legally for legal purposes.

Cool. I've been told that multiple purchases can lead to inquiries, despite them being 100% lawful.

I don't have a lot of experience with that scenario. Yeah, I can tell them to f*** off, but I'd just as soon not get into that.

I see the problem. Silver Spring since 1973. I was raised around that area. Kensington in 1973 and then Silver Spring/Colesville in 1985. I finally left the area for Germantown in 2003 and left Montgomery County entirely in early 2011.

All kidding aside, I would not worry one bit about buying several firearms in September 2013. I have 4 sitting at the FFL right now waiting for me to do paperwork on them. I think that gets me to 15 for the year and prior to this my last purchase was in 2009. I am not worried about anything, and if they do inquire I am not worried about that either.

Now, if you are planning on buying 250 AR-15 rifles, then I might think twice, but I would probably still do it.

    You're already on multiple lists.
The DC status is just one more.

Who is telling you this nonsense? Sounds like gun shop BS. People who blather that sort of nonsense like to make themselves feel important by spouting off nonsense.

"Those magazines are police only. You can get 20 years in the Federal slammer just for possession."

"It's illegal to stop for a red light if you have a gun in your car. By the way, ammo has to be in a separate vehicle. Federal Law."

"If you get a C&R license, you sign away your 4th Amendment rights. Police can search your home any time, with no warrant."

"Hollow Point bullets require a special license. Only 200 people per state can get one. I'd show you mine, but that violates the terms. Federal Law, you know."

There's a certain personality type that spouts that sort of crap. When these blowhards hear you're interested in guns, they'll start butting in to the conversation with their expert, secret knowledge. Ignore them, if possible.

To put it briefly the second you bought anything you are on a list. The second you became a designated collector you are on a different list.

It truly matters not as you are already there. May as well enjoy yourself.

The biggest concern would be straw purchases. Anytime you start acquiring multiple firearms in a short period of time, that would probably be a concern of big brother. However, since they are the one who started this problem, and it is not just MD, but all over the country, it is probably harder now for them to separate us 2A loving law-abiding citizens from the criminal element. Thus it "could" lead to an inquiry later down the road when the dust settles.

between buying guns, buying ammo in bulk, being a DC, and talking on the various shooting forums, I'm probably on more lists then I care to think about...

Enjoy your shopping to the fullest extent if you are a DC. Worst case, you will be in excellent company.

OP - you just made another list by creating this thread and wondering if you are going to make a 'list'.

That's the "paranoid that they are making a list list". :lol2:

Don't worry, last I counted I'm on about 4,727 lists. Oh wait... posting in this thread makes it 4,728. Cool.
