I would love to find someone who could make me a tailored vest. I checked out the link and there is some great gear... There are some that I found funny. You can tell they probably haven't had to move around in their rigs...other than pose in the bathroom(some of the posts). Carrying your whole weapon collection will only get you killed and make you a supply point for the enemy.

Maybe it was the light infantry I'm me thinking.

Boston LEOs must have been tuned to that thread too.

If there's one piece of equipment that I need, based on that thread, is a bunch of tats on my arms. :rolleye12

One of the main things I have noticed(and am guilty of, but I know better than to put my picture on the web) is that for all the crap they have, no one follows the first rule of Zombieland.

And all their crap looks 2 sizes big.

Not gonna lie, I am guilty of a bit of mall ninjaish gear pron. I do use alot off it for airsofting and for paintball excursions. I used to browse through the ar15 equipment exchange on a weekly basis and picked up a ton of gear from guys who bought items new and found they didn't like them for various reasons so I picked them up dirt cheap and then played around with them. If I didn't end up liking it, I put it back on the equipment exchange and made my money back. I rarely buy things new, I much prefer someone else breaking in items for me and just buying it from them :) I must say however that I have run distances and also laid down on the ground with all my gear so I know I don't resemble a turtle flipped in it's back when I have to get low. Well post pictures of my first line and second line gear as well as the carotid bug in/out bags.

I'm clueless as to how any of these set-ups are supposed to work. But, that thread has plenty of "my **** is bigger than yours".

I sorta understand the chest rig for magazines. But, adding extra pouches just to add another extra something onto them seems obsessive.

Anyway... looking forward to seeing what Chad posts.

Flying debris and better than nothing is pretty much as good as it gets... They are also helpful to attach nvg and radio equipment... And condoms too

So, what do members of MDS choose for their "combat holster"?

Serpa & Safariland 6XXX-series seem to be the "go to" for a lot of people.

I don't have a "combat holster". I just don't have 1,000's of dollars for battle rigs that will never see the light of day let alone any dirt or "combat" home defense training.

Same here. I was just curious as we already have a holster thread down in "Handgun". I wondered what was going to happen if I added the word "combat" to it.

I mainly wear a plate carrier for protection during carbine courses. I wear soft armor or hard 3A armor during pistol competitions almost all the time. I'm a firm believer in wearing the armorer during dynamic competitions and training events. A lot of people look at me funny until they confront me. They usually leave open minded and come back to talk about my gear and what I recommend. As you can see in the picture below, I was the only one wearing armor during that course. Suffice it to say, I was very happy I brought it.

Shooting with a plate carrier with armor and some sort of load out is way different than shooting "slick" especially when it comes to the prone. The events of the day dictate what I put on my carrier. Normally the 3 magazines + tourniquet + admin pouch stays but I have pouches for night fighting to keep ancillary NODs equipment on me, bangs, radio, etc as needed.

I plan on getting some concealable soft armor to wear when I RO matches. Seems like good cheap insurance against a ND/AD.

    As for other member posts................

As far as my pics, its my Anniversary so I have been busy, thus the absence of pics. Ill take some before the weekend.

As far as my "gear" goes its something I DO use.

Its not there to be "cool", its not there to show off.

I have it in the event something absolutely awful happens for the "full loadout" but some I use every day.

My gear isn't all camo, I wear it with Jeans, Hiking Sneakers, and a T-Shirt. My equipment is more of a colliage of camping, hunting, hiking, bicycling, and survival teotwawki all mixed together.

It isn't just gun stuff, I have Medicine, Water, Food, Cooking Supplies, Fire Starting, Water Filtration, Tools, Reading Material, Solar Chargers, Climbing Gear, Shelter, Ammo, Firearms, Knives, Hatchet/Shovel, and all kinds of struff in my equipment. I even have a large Cobalt Tool Chest that I keep most of it in.

Those who don't understand it need to consider HOW they will carry anything if society ever falls apart/collapses or realize certain things should be compartmentalized and kept so they are accessible and not scattered about ones home.

If something bad happens how will you carry a weapon? Will you shove your gun in your jeans? Where will you carry your knife, mags, medical supplies, water, food?

I use my equipment when I take carbine classes (This is where I learn what works for me and what dosent). I sometimes wear it at the gunshop (and driving Home)and around the house to also see if anything is uncomfortable, out of place or inaccessible. Sometimes I wear it camping, bicycling, and hiking, but I remove certain weapons depending on the state.

You cant always tell people who don't use their equipment from its cleanliness 9Some people just take good care of their gear), but mostly from its placement and its sizing. For instance:

-Can they sit in a Vehicle or on a Bike with their equipment on?

-Can they access their Med Kit, do they even have one?

-Can they SEE their Sidearm, is the gun positioned properly and secure?

-Is the equipment layered so it can be shed while still leaving at a minimum a holster, knife, med kit, water, and primary/secondary mags?

-Do they have a Sling for their Primary?

-Does their Radio, Knife, or Pouches prevent them from properly shouldering their primary weapon?

-Can they go Prone in their equipment (Too Bulky up front), can they get back UP?

-Is their gear considerate of different climates? Cant they conceal it if need be with outer clothing? If not can they shed un-necessary gear to conceal their equipment?

-Can they get to their primary and secondary mags without fumbling, can they SEE them, and can they reinsert them if need be?

-Do they have water, food, lighting, and shelter built into their gear?

Yeah, lots of helmets in that thread. Any of 'em actually provide any protection? Most look like skateboarding helmets.

IMO Ballistic Helmets are a waste. They wont stop most direct hits with anything besides a pistol round. They protect mostly against debris.

I have a "Bump Helmet" Its does what its called, it protects me from bumps. You are correct, its nothing but a modified skateboard or climbing helmet.

If I slip and fall and hit my head with it I should survive. It can accomidate N.V. (Which Im saving for), a light, camera, retains my eyewear and my comms gear/ear protection.
