    Bill justification

"Unless you are actively working in law enforcement, there is no legiti-
mate reason to purchase or own a bullet-proof vest (known in New York
State law as a body vest). Bullet-proof vests are necessary to protect
those in law enforcement or those whose professions put them at risk of
injury such as armored car drivers or security guards. Otherwise, bullet
proof vests are used by those intending to protect themselves while

    committing crimes."
That language in the bill will make for some real squirming on the NYAG side when they try to defend the law in court and its presumption of criminal intent by possessing body armor. It shouldn't be hard for a plaintiff to demonstrate dozens of fully innocent reasons for people to wear or want to own body armor.

NY loves being sanctimonious and unreasonable in 2A-related legislation. It probably bit them really hard in the a$$ in Bruen, but we're still waiting to find out exactly how deep the self-inflicted bite wounds are.

Maybe we should abolish the US Constitution so that we can have all Democrats drawn and quartered like the days of old.

I haven’t looked at specific statute for NY, but I think it reads effectively 8 layers of Kevlar or more, or the equivalent to level II NIJ standard protection in a wearable vest.
I watched a video where a guy made a protective vest out of several layers of welder's blankets made of fiberglass cloth, epoxied together over a core of plywood. It wasn't that heavy.

He shot it with a wide variety of firearms and the only thing that got through was 5.56 at close range and that was after he shot the thing with ever other firearm. It shrugged off a shotgun.

Yes do you think the Sec of State of NY will go through and confiscate things from one of the most commercialized museums in the country.
If there isn’t an exemption granted 15 days after the law goes in to force some high minded New York resident should sue the AG if New York very publicly to ENFORCE THE LAW and keep our streets safe, arrest the curators and raid the collection.

I am sure they will make sure all the right people get exceptions before the law goes into effect.
