What we have here is 2 wrongs.
The BP employee was wrong for lying to the OP and trying to get rid of him and jerking him around. He was also wrong for following him and harassing him.

The OP was wrong for losing his temper and cursing like that in a public place where lots of kids usually are. That type of thing makes gun owners look like jerks with no self control.
    Thanks OP.

This hits it on the head perfectly. When the stupid employee offed up the manager, I would have jumped on it. He could have then told the manager how the employee blew him off and acted inappropriately. Maybe, just maybe, he may have gotten a freebie, or discount off a future purchase. See as the ammo shortage is all but over, he may have even gotten a free box of ammo.

That being said, I use and recommend 2A Sales for gun purchases.

Anybody wonder whether the clerk had some good faith basis for believing that the sale wasn't processed, e.g., had just checked for another customer and was told that all sales from that day were still pending, which turned out to be wrong? Why would he be so eager to help, but not with that? Why would he lie about that, but follow up in every other way? Something's missing from this story.

The OP did not handle the situation well. I've had issue with the same store, similar issie and expressed my issues to both the manager in the firearms section and the offending floor associate in a direct and civil manner. I got results. Employees are not props to be harassed and bullied by abrasive personalities. Had I been the manager for this incident, I would have apologized for the incident with an explanation (see a previous post), then told the customer another business to handle his needs is out there and to choose that business after completing the transaction.

This was very poor judgrment on the OP's part and a diabolical representation of tyose practicing 2nd amendment rights.

First mistake was actually purchasing a handgun at BP.

Terrible prices, need an HQL just to hold one, and they don't follow 8th day release.

The no help clerk is just the icing on a terrible cake.

I wouldn't have dropped the F bomb but with some people it's very much a part of their every day vocabulary.

Ass pro shop is not 2A friendly. There are those employees who are ,but as a whole the company isn't. I was once told I could not see a handgun unless I proved I had taken the Maryland safety class. This was pre Omalley Once the guy saw my badge he still insisted on the safety class. Maybe he was new. I just walked out and called keep shooting. Never been back

I torn here. I really am. I am certainly not known for my patience with people. I try very hard but like the OP, I despise people who misinform just because they are too lazy to do their job.

I blew my cork recently at Ourisman Chevy of Bowie. I bought a 2500hd there to replace my work truck. At the same time I picked up the fabric warranty and line x. It also had a miss, so in the busy summer, I scheduled a 3 day weekend to have the work done 2 weeks in advance. I carefully orchestrated the removal of all my work goods out of the back and cab and took it in. They called me on sat to tell me it was done. I roll in and they say well everything was done but the line-x. I ask why? they never scheduled the line-x. After much disappointment I agreed to leave it til Monday. They gave me a loaner suburban. I came back on Tuesday to pick it up and the service advisor tells me I have your loaner 2500 right here.

I lost my shit. I was walked out of the service department after I told them exactly what the hell I thought of them and their incompetence.

You know what? They got that shit straightened out real quick. Do you think all the people in that service department were offended? No, not at all most were smiling and some even clapped. That place sucks. Sometimes it takes an outburst and making a scene to have your issue recognized and resolved. The service manager would have rather just rescheduled me quietly. Instead they were forced to call in a favor and get it done immediately.

I don't go everywhere wearing my emotions on my sleeve and I am not always belligerent with people. Quite the contrary. Sometimes you lose your cool and its not always bad so long as you don't resort to violence. I bet one thing. I bet that ******* doesn't assume he doesn't have to check again.

The OP reaction needs to be the new standard in dealing with these gun grabbing commies in the state of MD. This is the only language a lot of people understand. The kindness and respectful approach hasn't worked so well in the past.

Well, i don't think he lied. A lie would have been to go check, see that it is in and say it isn't. He was just a rude, lazy fck who couldn't handle the flow of traffic they must have had.

Maybe BP doesn't want to sell handguns at that location and isn't encouraging purchasers, but doesn't want to make a decision to stop selling them. Seriously bad PR if something goes wrong, and they don't want the headache. Also, on busy days like weekends, lots of foot traffic passing through the store, and unsavories and mall rats of every nature swarming around the mall and parking lots. Then, even if they escort purchasers to the door, once they're out they're in a big shared parking lot. Maybe a box store in a mall, located near lots of low-rent discount stores just outside of murder capital Baltimore isn't BP's idea of the best location for handgun sales. And then there's the incident a couple years ago where a shotgun walked out the BP back door after hours. Any resolution to that case? Was that an inside job?

All of this could easily have been avoided... Using the search function on this site and entering that store name in the search, the OP may have found a thread that might have tipped the scales to go to another store and to avoid that sh!thole all together. As for the language used, has anyone considered that there may not have been anyone within earshot of the F bomb(s)? I have, in fact, called people closer so I could tell them to "f**k off" when they don't grasp a clue. Just my .02 ...

I hope not. Life should be better than a giant Jerry Springer show.
Unfortunately there is so much incompetence, employees of every business have no idea what good service is because they have never seen it themselves.

I have blown my stack many times and it ends up with me looking like the dick. Much better to seek out the supervisor or manager.

Interesting replies all around. Good conversation and I enjoy different perspectives. I make absolutely NO APOLOGIES. My firearm was in fact ready for pickup and had been ready for 2 days, I guess they just got busy and didn't call. When I say 'no thanks' I mean 'no thanks/ When I say 'no thanks' TWICE... that is me being polite. I should not have to say no 3 times. It was the 3rd time that justified my final 'NO THANKS' in terms that sends a clear message. He left me alone and someone who is not a liar helped me out.

After the stress of trying to find a parking spot on that lot, I'd probably be cussing the kids selling girl scout cookies at the door before I even went in...:lol2:

 I laughed because the Cub Scouts are out there this weekend selling popcorn.
