Hello, I am new to the forum and new to guns.
I just got my early mothers day present a Rem 870:-)
I would like to join Izaak Walton in Damascus, but would like to know if they have a restriction on the barrel length. I tried calling them but no one answers.
I was hoping someone here can answer the question.
    thanks!

I guess I should have asked...

Is this a home defense gun and you want some range time with it, or are you planning on shooting in a skeet or trap setting. Then maybe somebody will care.

I wanted a hunting gun for small game and upland birds, but I need a range time to practice.

If no one answers by the time I get to work tomorrow I will try and look it up. I think its on the user-unfriendly website somewheres.

I believe there is a minimum, not sure what it is, though.

Here are the rules for the Shotgun range. I'm still looking for the rules for the rifle range.

    7. Firearms authorized for use on Chapter
ranges are restricted to those designed to
be fired from the shoulder. No handguns
with shot loads are permitted. Use only
firearms which are known to be
    mechanically safe and sound.
    8. No shotgun or shell larger than a 12 gauge,
3 ¼ dram may be fired anywhere on the
    shotgun range.
    9. Only lead shot may be used on the shotgun
    ranges as follows: Shot sizes 7 ½, 8, 8 ½,
and 9 are permitted on Ranges 1, 2, and 3.
Shot sizes 8, 8 ½, and 9 are permitted on
    ranges 4 and 5.

    Thanks!
I sent them email this morning and I will try calling again sometime today
yes, the website is not really user friendly, however, I thought I dug through all of it and didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

ok, I am about to give up on this place, I got an email stating that the barrel length requirements for skeet should be on the website. I don't see it.
Anyone knows a place in Montgomery county where I could go practice?
It seems that with what I have the sporting clays would be better, than skeet or trap.
    thanks!

I am a Damascus Ike. The only restrictions on firearms that I am aware of is that NFA weapons are not allowed. The shotgun range is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You can pattern test your shottie on the rifle range.
If you need any additional info feel free to PM me.

    Page 4:

    Types of Shotguns

Only shotguns with a barrel length of 18 inches, the legal limit, or longer are permitted on the shotgun fields, though we prefer 22 inches or longer because the shorter barrels are designed for self-defense rather than clay target shooting.
