It's a shame you don't have more time to complete a good collection. I am sure you will find out soon enough. It's addictive.

You can call and ask them. I wouldn't keep calling them and asking is it back yet though. :D There are a couple of threads running on here that talk about people getting their paperwork back and what date their application was submitted. I think mid February paperwork is coming back now. It's running from 60 days forward to get processed.

Also, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. :D

1: Guns should not have locks on them.

2: Stick the unloaded gun in the hands of your child. This will take the mystery away and the kid won't give a Flying Reindeer F*** about the gun after that.

3: Guns should not have locks on them.

4: If it's for killing people in the middle of the night, load the magazine full of ammo, put the magazine in the gun, chamber a round, and put the gun in a fast opening lock box by your bed. Take a moment and refer back to steps 1 and 3.

5: Don't go down the road of keeping the gun in your bedroom with the magazine hidden in the kitchen and the ammo hidden in the hall closet under aunt sallies quilt.

6: Train, train, train. Learn to open that lock box "fast".

7: Train, train, train. Become surgical with that thing.

8: Clean, clean, clean. If you don't clean it "everytime", you won't clean it the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 25th time either. Show it some love and it will return the favor.

9: Remember what I said about steps 1, 3, and parts of step 4.

    10: Enjoy your new toy.

    P.S.

    It's not really a toy.

    This is just advice.

    Do what makes you comfortable.

Dear MOM, My kids are out of the house and all of my toys are locked-up.

I was able to pick up my Beretta last Thursday. I gave it its maiden shooting that Sunday at Freestate in Middle River. It went well and I am now looking for training classes.

What do you suggest? I may want to get a concealed carry permit too but the M9 is a large gun. Any suggestions with that?

Well, somebody had to do it. BTW, we like it when you share your toys with us too. At least tell us what you bought.

This has nothing to do with this post, but if you are looking for gun porn, this was my pickup for today.

For training classes there are a lot of NRA classes here is a link to help finding one:

For your concealed carry permit good luck, if you thought the regulations and your wait for your first hand gun was bad wait until you try for a carry permit. Lots of information here and at the Maryland Shall Issue site. The problem is the people who give you your permit don't want you to have a permit and they are the ones who decide if your "Good and Substantial Reason" for wanting a permit is good enough and substantial enough so they can't turn you down.

Congratulations on the new purchase...have a lot of patience w/the system cuz it's going to work only at its (state approved) pace to return your "not disapproved" paperwork.
(I'm in my 40th day of the 7 days waiting period.)

Do tell who is the FFL but I take it they won't do an 8th day release? If not and you can't convince them transfer it to another FFL who will, or cancel the purchase, I fear you're going to be waiting a LOT longer for the property the law allows you to possess now (assuming you have no reason to believe you'd be disapproved). If that regulated firearm is a handgun, until the HQL mess is sorted out, your wait might be even longer. If it's a handgun, receive it before 1 October!
