I just bought my first revolver, it's a .357 Ruger GP100. Is there any reason, besides crud build up, that I can't shoot .38 Special rounds through it? I just want to make sure that it won't mess up any mechanics.
keep in mind the .38's will be shorter than .357 so the fouling will start further back. If you go to shoot .357 later on without cleaning, it could make sticky extraction. It's not a big deal and a bore snake in the range bag to pull through fixes anything that may pop up with it.
Great point, beat me to it.
To the OP, I love shooting .38 through my 6" GP100. It feels like a little cap gun!
