    I kinda dig it too. Whatever floats your boat - obviously with the original furniture it's a classic gun, but the black is a cool look too.

    Here's and idea - a couple of months ago someone posted about doing a restoration on an 870 that had been fairly abused, and he stripped the old Remington poly finish and did a really nice oil finish on the walnut. You might consider doing that, and in the meantime keep the black. Heck if all else fails, you might be able to make a few bucks by selling the refinished wood furniture. The oil finish gives it a really nice classic glow.

    That would be me. A very satisfying project too. I can't even imagine the satisfaction of doing it on my fathers old shotgun! PM me if you want to go this route. I can offer up anything I learned along the way.

    Damn I tried, I could not get Hooli to get off the roof of that dog house and talk to me. That dam goat just shunned me like a red headed step-child, I even brought a bag of carrots and all Hooli would say is nnnnnooooo,,,,,, nnnnoooooooooo. I just slinked away mumbling dam goat better be careful he don't end up as Mexican Stew on Super Bowl Sunday.
