I understand that you may loan a handgun to a friend as long as they are not prohibited from having possession of it. How do you take it to their home without violating the rule about illegally transporting a firearm?
How about stopping at friend's home to drop off a firearm (loaning it to him) before going to work then retrieving it in the evening to go to the range? I was looking for a way to go shooting after work without having to make a 70 mile round-trip...
Seems crazy not to be allowed to do this. A massive waste of natural resources. Of course leaving the firearm in the trunk during the workday would be worse.
    Any opinions?

MD law is not about convenience, its about inconvenience ... that is the intention. DC status & C&R holding would seem to give you the bona fide collector status ... the only exception in MD law

    Incorrect.

You can have the mags loaded. but not the firearm.
And there is no law in MD that says the mag must be in a separate compartment of the vehicle.

Please if you really don't know for sure...don't post wrong info.

Yes, and this topic has been discussed multiple times in the past....

Does a Gun Collector status require a special permit or license? Does it give you additional rights to transport your handguns (Not "carry" them on your person). Is this status easier to obtain than a CC permit?

You can apply for MD designated Collector status by mailing in the DC affidavit to MSP. No cost, just have it notarized

    It allows:

    1. More than 1 purchase every 30 days
    2. Possible legal protection when transporting firearms as a "Bona Fide" collector as outlined in MD statute 4-203. (No case law on this IIRC) Bona Fide is not defined in the statute.

DC is not the same as an 03 FFL C & R license. One is Federal, the other is state. I have both just to be safe.
