    I won't presume this one .

Did you mean * three inches low , at 7 yards * or * impacting three inches low and slightly left , at unspecified distance * ?

But yes POI/ POA is something to be aware .

Yes , generally with regular handguns , at " typical handgun distances " , light or fast , and particularly light and fast bullets will POI lower than standard for caliber weight bullets at more or less standard velocities. I varies from person to person , and gun to gun how much.

And everyone must answer the Paul Harrell Rhetorical Question;, " Is it enough difference, to make a difference? " .

What's the Intended Purpose, and what's your expectation ?

I'm outspoken in my druthers , but we can safety say that for large % of people 3 inches low at 7 yards , with subcompact pistol , that they only forsee using at 7 yards or less , would dismiss 3 inch shift as trivial ( if they bothered to check ) . And it would usually work out for them.

I have seen 6 to 12 inch offset at that distance, and I moved on with prejudice to other choices .
I don't know how to edit(don't want to learn either) so I'll just post my answer below.

I was shooting at 7 and 10 yards. In both cases, the impact was at 7 o'clock on a 7 inch paper plate.

I like to have a gun shoot to POI, so if I am shaking or off center a little, the impact is still in a vital area. If I start with a 3" deflection, then I might miss.

I would have liked the 68 grain to have worked better as the recoil is noticeably less than the 90 grain ammo. The 90 grain still has less recoil than say a 124 gn Gold Dot.

Yes, but that ridiculous grip safety.

They Ruger Security 380 is tops.

If I didn't already have the Security 9 Compact, (same frame/size) I'd be all over it.
As I have said before, all the women who brought M&P EZ’s to my classes have been unable to manipulate the grip safety. The part of their hand around the back of the grip was too soft to disengage the safety. In my opinion, it is a poorly test marketed product. The grip safety seems to work well in men’s hands, but it’s not marketed to men in particular.

The LCP Max saw its first range trip and I have to say I wasn't particularly thrilled with it. A mere 50 rounds of ammo were lit off without malfunction, but my trigger finger was sore after the second mag and I didn't want to open a second box of ammo after I finished the first.

Worse, it and/or me were quite inaccurate with it. I am hardly an accomplished shot, but I don't have trouble keeping rounds on paper. Not quite so true with this little piece. It very well could have been mostly me, but if that's the case not only have my fundamentals gone to shiit, but I didn't have the wherewithal to recognize anything that I was doing wrong. I probably pulled/jerked 5-6 rounds, but it was shooting mostly low at eight yards and had more than a few fliers. To the extent I could find any "comfort" using a pistol defensively, I would not be comfortable engaging with it much beyond contact distance.

It and/or me need some work.

Bumping this as I took it out again recently. I had similar issues as compared to the first outing, and other folks on the line with me (mostly rookies, apparently) had similar problems with it.

It's going back to Ruger for an exam and hopefully correction of whatever ails it. If I'm unsatisfied after getting it back, I'll be selling/trading shortly thereafter.

Well, shit. Ruger has determined that I cannot shoot that pistol accurately. It would appear I need to either train better and/or more with that pistol, or cut bait and get something else that I can trust. Perhaps some new ammo is in order? It's just WWB, but unless this ammo is wildly out of spec, it is certainly a problem with how I'm operating the pistol and not some mechanical flaw that separates me from achieving acceptable defensive accuracy.

Once I drifted/corrected the sights, got used to the sight picture, we are both still 3" low at 7 yrds.

I'm told they zero at 25 even though it isn't meant for that distance.

Regular ball ammo from Federal or Blazer Brass or Sig V-Crown are identical.

    It works for us.

I can't get the hang of the Browning 1911-380. It just wiggles in my hand no matter what I try. The Ruger may be your nemisis

This is entirely possible. The only other pistol that I've shot that I can't shoot "well" (for me, at least) is a full size Beretta (M9?). Even with that, I don't embarrass myself. The LCP Max is functionally shotgun patterning for me.

If someone is interested in a very gently used pistol, it's probably going to be in the classifieds shortly after Ruger sends it back to me.

A shame, because that gun positively disappears in a pocket in a Desantis Superfly holster.

Of the three that you have mentioned I have a Sig P238 and a Walther PPK/S. Like yourself I am looking for another 380 pistol. I do want to add that the 380 is decently easy to reload for.
