What exactly are the shooting requirements? For that matter I can't seem to find a detailed description of what all is required.

15 yards 1 in 6 seconds 5 times.
18 hits on the black passes. Edge of black that tears into the black counts according to the scoring instructions.
19 beeps of the timer, each starts and returns to low ready.
There is no caliber requirement, but semiautos must have 2 magazines and revolvers must use speedloaders at the 5 yard stage. Also instructions say only load 5 rounds. Revolver shooters better know how their gun clocks.

I recently did my HQL and I wish I did a little more research and did the Wear and Carry instead. I can definitely say if you have the money and time definitely go for it as you are getting so much more for your money.
When I took the HQL class they started by giving everyone their certificates to upload them going over the application process. We went over a quick PowerPoint while people rotated out to get fingerprinted. They tried to sell us USCCA, some raffles, and merch. Then we took turns clearing a training Glock 17 and then shot one round. It was not worth the money.

What part of MD are you in?
Plenty of W&C instructors are IP’s here on MDS
Calvert county. Where are you located? Or where are your classes held rather?
My classes are across the Bay in Worton and Earleville. I'm sure there is someone near you
