Ok, does a magic pistol powder exist for say 9mm luger?

    works well in a dipper,
works well in a powder measure
    Burns clean
    Burns consistantly
does not stick onto powder measure or dipper with static?

For me its Hodgdon HP-38/Winchester 231 (its the exact same stuff from the same factory) which i use on multiple weights for .40. I will be testing it out this week on .45, but i've heard and seen nothing but good things from powder. Second on my list would probably be Hodgdon HS-6.

231 is just okay, there is a lot of load data out there. There are several cleaner, and softer shooting powders out there.

Lee says to wash your powder dipper in a solution of dish soap and water, then let it air dry to take care of static.

A dryer sheet will work too.

Rub the inside and outside of the hopper or dipper with a used dry sheet.

Also, a light spray of Static Guard would probably also work.

Thx for the input. I'm at least 1000 rounds away from running out of Bullseye, but want to see what I'll try when that runs out. I'll look around casually for the W231 and snag some when I find it. Not in a rush to go out of my way for it, just want to know what to look for.

I have sprayed the Qtipped the lee dippers and my funnel and that works good enough.

I've had really good luck with Titegroup. Meters great, shoots great, and is a very compact powder that really goes a long way.

Only downside is it is a little dirty and smoky with lead bullets.

Add another fan of 231. I use it in my 45ACP, and my heavy 45 colt loads. It meters well.

Titegroup meters very well but does tend to cling to the side of your powder thrower.

If your powder thrower is new, some manufacters recommend you run 1lb of powder through the powder thrower, to help avoid static clinging. Just throw the powder back into the orginal container.

Years back I read an article about the Hercules (now Alliant) powder company. The inuendo was the factories used an industrial equivalent of Unique for 9mm. That may have changed since then, but would be a good starting point.

    Same here.

Use it exclusively for my .45ACP loads - from 185gr to 230gr ball, jacketed/plated or cast, it works well for me.

Definitely smoky/sooty at the lighter end of the charge weights, but mid-level and up, it does get a lot cleaner.

Been meaning to try 231, just haven't found any lately.
