Not what he is talking about. Take any of these competition guys and put them in a shoot house/ self defense scenarios where threats actually move and their groups get measured in feet.

Aside from the ones who have gun jobs and actually train shooting self defense. Believe me, they didn't get their training from IDPA, etc...

It's not training, it's practicing moving and shooting under pressure. Training is where you learn stuff, practice is doing after training to retain what you learned.

Timed shoots isn't "pressure" like related to self defense shooting.
    It's two different things. Sorry.

Shooting a competition match isn't practicing what you learned at that advanced handgun course or shoot house the week prior.

Just curious, have you tried it or are you just doing the "feeling" thing?

Yes. I've shot targets against the clock against other people. It's fun.
I have two co workers who are very popular names in competition shooting. They manage to be perfect in competition and self defense shooting. They are very fortunate.

It's nothing like the adrenaline rush going into a live shoot house or doing force on force/ active shooter training in a building with SIMS, being shot back at.
    They are two different dynamics.

Ever see a ccw competition shooter on store video do the surrender hands position before drawing his weapon and shoot a bad guy during a robbery? I have.
I just don't have the desire to cross contaminate that into my self defense shooting training.

I'm not bashing. It's just not my discipline of training.

You may not have desire.. But some do. Can't really compare everyone to your style of training what not.

Hey it's their shoot. Anyone can desire any hobby they want. I couldn't care less. At least it's something.
All I'm saying it's two totally different things.
