Smoothing and blending the arc in grip safety area of frame.

Straightening out the horizontal trigger finger relief cuts in the frame and surrounding area of the trigger guard.

Working around the serial number kept me VERY observant.

Okay all that work. I want to checker this frame but got what’s in the pic…a porosity void! I did question the father’s identity of the frame.

It is not super deep but would set the top of the front strap back too far to relieve it.

    Will do stippling instead.

EDIT: I realize I posted on this development once before. Comparing the pics in the two posts will illustrate how I tried to finish out the porosity but it actually got more obvious. It does not go through the frame. Checked that real close.

    Side bar.

Building a 9mm 1911 pistol for my niece. Awaiting the railed frame. She has small hands so I am put to the task. Here is the stainless GI thumb safety that started life as a Colt made ‘teardrop’ Gov’t Model thumb safety. The plate is 90% done now just the clean up and polish on scallop and the rear of the paddle needs to be done. This will be a stainless on blued pistol two tone.

pic of original stock part included.

Okay, after a couple hours of measurement and drawing on the front strap I decided to do a full stipple on this one and save the new stuff for another project. Anyway, here is the front strap prepped and stippling border done.

Didn’t want to bang up the stippling so I moved to roughing in the magwell. Got 3 sides almost semi finished. Front inside the front strap, two rear corners and final shape and polish need to be done. So let’s say its 40 % there…the magwell that is.

    Two before pics included.

Dang had to edit…forgot the pics!
Edited pcs for lighting and contrast.

Great work! I'm going to try all the blending on my next one. I have the Marvel thumb safety jig and hammer/sear jigs if you need them.

Mildly round butted the mainspring housing. I had to assemble housing, assemble the hammer/strut/pin, the install the hammer assembly onto the frame and intall the housing. Then I did the round butt treatment.

So knocked out the stippling on the front strap. Except for the borders, this is the first time I oriented the punch in the same direction for the whole strap. I did bring out the orientation through most of the border.

I included a couple progression pics. These have given me an idea to try in the future.

Good alignment between rear of frame and slide (never this close before) with a good bit of flats on the lower barrel lugs. I.E….accuracy enhancement. Keepin’ my fingers crossed.
