Carroll County is also hiring right now, accepting applications until the 25th, testing in April
FYI, Anne Arundel PD opened up again until June 10th. I'm 6 weeks in and by far the most challenging and rewarding thing I've ever done.

Your best bet is to go Baltimore City, tough it out for a while then lateral to one of the safer counties.
Baltimore City is always hiring and the physical standards aren't insane like some other departments. Insane being a relative term.
Doesn't Bmore City make you sign a contract saying you'll stay at least 2 years before you leave? That's an awfully long time to 'tough it out' in one of the most dangerous places to work as an LEO. I'd rather take my time and wait to get into a more respectable agency, but that's just me.

I actually thought it was closer to 4 or 5. But I'm fairly sure they do because they were losing so many people to outside agencies.
DC does the same thing and its due to the cost of training you, that's all.
This area is one of the few that don't embrace private training academies like PA does. In a lot of places you pay for the training and hope to get picked up after your done. A few guys I work with we're lucky to get picked up by departments who trained them. Most pay to play.

Do any of these depts have military preference? I entered active duty after graduating from college with a sociology degree. I am intel so my background is super clean, and I should have completed a masters in Crim Justice before I discharge. How strong of an applicant do you think I would be on a dept down here? I know there is no perfect applicant, but Ive been working at becoming him.
