Codes should be the same. Maybe the Freedom Group 870s are different, not sure.
Make sure to post some pics! I love LE trade-in shotguns.
I got the "blacked out" Wingmaster back together today. I like it much better without the spray paint. Did a simple paint strip, followed by a half dozen or so coats of linseed oil rubbed in. Turned out ok, I think. I have some mag tube extensions coming, but looks like that'll be 2 weeks before they get here.
Bottom pic is a before and after...of course I have them posed backwards, lol. The Police Magnum is the one with the shortened stock. Cut down 1.5 inches.
Yeah, really nice job. With the stock of the shotgun that wasn't painted black, did you repair some chipping as well? Did just the coats of linseed oil do the trick?
Thanks guys. I just wish I could shoot them now, lol.
fidelity, I purposely did not do any repairing or even sanding. You can see some areas had darker color that I just couldn't get to be uniform, even after multiple tries with the stripper. I was a little frustrated, but then realized that was what I wanted anyway...for them to look like a 48 and 24 year old LE shotgun, with some wear and tear, and some dings and dents, but also have much more of a natural wood look instead of painted or overly faded.
Already regret not grabbing one or two more, lol.
Dave, yours looks awesome
Thanks, guy. You're making us all regret (although I did recently pick up a new youth Remington 870 in 20 gauge with wood stock that will be for my youngest eventually ). Brian always seems to get nice used 870 shotguns.
It will be interesting to see how prices go over the next 5 years. These guns have a LOT going for them, so I doubt that demand will wane much. Once all the flippers and quick buck makers have thinned out, we might really seem some high pricing. $2,000 might be a retail price on a folder.
If prices fall, that’s even better. I’ll buy a few more.
Is that from today or very recent? I just saw two on GB with “buy it now” at $1700/1800... which is crazy in itself, but still cheaper than this one...
