While we are on the subject of M91s, after loading 25 rounds of 30-06 and 24 rounds of .243 for the pigpocalypse, I finally got around to unboxing this tonight.

Cool M91! In case you don't already know, the threads on the barrel bands are reverse threaded, captured screws.

The stock on that one is amazing.

I admit to not finding these particularly appealing in general (I know, I have bad taste!) but this one is super cool.
That's some mighty fine looking wood. :innocent0

    Good luck with the piggies!

Yes, thanks. I've had to replace a few on rifles that I purchased from people who just wouldn't believe that that ... screw ... wasn't .... stuck.

Thanks, all. It's quite beautiful. It has definitely been issued and used, which I like very much.

I picked up a gorgeous 1943 walnut K31 off gunforums a couple weeks ago. After asking a bunch of questions and the seller sent me a bunch of pics, I pulled the trigger. I picked it up today at the post office, went straight home to open it, and was estatic - for about 30seconds:(
I specifically asked the seller if the stock was sanded (it was the first thing I asked) and he assured me it had not. But some bubba got a hold of this and went at it big time at some point. Crying shame as its the original stock (numbers stamped in the interior channels)

    * The buttstock crest is about 1/16" proud of the rest of the stock and can be both clearly seen and felt (and clearly shows a 'ring' if held in the light right.) They sanded around it:(
    * The buttstock knob is smoothed over.
    * The side finger slot inletting is smoothed.
    * And probably the worst is the upper handguard: It has an enormous dip toward the front band.

Now I have to try and work out a return/refund w/ the seller.:sad20:

Oh man, yeah that's sanded so bad, anyone should have been able to tell.

But, I have realized after a few private purchases online, some people own a lot of guns but are just plain ignorant on the subject. Yet, they will answer your questions with complete confidence even if they are telling you wrong. .

Not C&R but just got a nice Mepro 21 in the mail from Optics Planet. $405, free shipping after all my discounts were settled. Generally an Eotech fan but wanted one for my Tavor.
