If anyone wants to contact the JPR members to voice opposition to proposed anti 2A legislation SB1, SB86 and SB113 here is a list. This is not for testimony. This is simply to email and/or call to tell them why you oppose these bills. Remember to be courteous. Your input is imperative. With 85,000 persons now having carry permits there should be no reason the emails and phones cannot be made. Just Do It!

Thank you! Should we reach out to all of them or just those in our area/region?

The once or twice anyone brought up districts , my standard response was that absolutely , they are representing Their Constituents in Floor Votes . But on Committee matters they are representing all Marylanders , and they never had a comeback .

So Yes , please communicate with All Committee Members regarding the subject matter of that Committee .

I almost hope all three pages of sb1 passes without amendment so it can be slapped down immediately in the courts. I know there isn't a guarantee it will be stopped once it becomes law, but if it's worn down and is less restrictive there is a slight chance it could stay law.

With the tyranny of the majority here it's going to pass.

All players received my email. Got one response - Senator Will Smith:

    Dear XXX

Thank you for writing regarding Senate Bill 0001, the Gun Safety Act of 2023, which would prohibit a person from knowingly wearing, carrying, or transporting a firearm within 100 feet of a place of public accommodation. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on this issue.

Senate Bill 0001 is currently scheduled to receive a hearing on the 7th of February. This bill is still in the early stages of the legislative process. Many details regarding this bill will be discussed, so I appreciate your concern with this important legislation and will take your comments into consideration.

I encourage you to remain active and vocal on this issue. Please feel free to call me at 301-858-3634 or email me anytime at will.smith@senate.state.md.us to get an update on this legislation or any other issues important to you.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your views with me. Please stay in touch and let me know how I may be of service to you in the future.

    All the best,

    Senator Will Smith
