They will come for pistols next. Remember, Bozo Biden told them to buy a shotgun.

Only thing they wont ban is pellet guns cause criminals only bring knives to GUN fights! And the sight of granny packing a .177 caliber pellet gun is enough to make ALL criminals crap their pants and run the other way and swear off all illegal activity in the fear of hearing the pump action of said pellet gun ever again!
We are in for a fight fellas! make sure we leave teeth marks on their asses so that when they wipe their butts they will think about us!
The LAW ABIDING CITIZEN~ Economy has been broke for a long time and no rush to fix it! Someone pulls a gun and its time to pull a sharpie and start rewriting the constitution!

My guess is semi auto handguns. They are easily concealable.

you're laboring under the delusion they are making these laws in order to actually bring down the level of gun related crime.

That is definitely not the case.

Without gang related gun crime and robberies with handguns they would have nothing to shout about, no need to emasculate every single man in order to achieve equality through powerlessness.

legislators aren't as stupid as all that, they only go after what they think they can pass little by little... They'll pass the assault ban then wait two years and come out and say what we all know "oh wow the assault ban didn't make much of a difference so we need to be more aggressive... now were taking the hand guns". Same for Maryland live casino, they knew they couldn't pass table games at the beginning so they just pushed slots though because it would pass. Now we're having table games because they know they could make more money that way. They knew they intended to do that from the start. Politicians just always think they can out smart the public... and unfortunately they normally get their way.

Any gun they can argue you don't really need.

You have a hunting rifle? When was the last time you hunted? Do you own the land that you hunt on?

Are you a target shooter? Are you a registered target shooter? Do you belong to a government approved target shooting club? Then you don't need those guns in your home. You can store them at the club.

Please tell us why you need another box of ammunition...

Recent conversation got me thinking - the massive anti-gun lobby won't stop with AR-15's and the like, we all know that.

So I'm trying to figure out what would be next. Handguns or shotguns? Handguns are extremely evil when you shoot them sideways in the city streets, but then again shotguns come in black and look scary in movies too.

Which will it be? Or something I'm not thinking of? Forks, for example. They're really sharp and can hurt people if you stab at them.

We MAY lose the immediate fight against anything passing, but we have a very good chance in the courts.

If this legislation is passed, how about whats next is we show up a day after at the MSI/NRA/2AF website with a donation. They will be looking for a good case to start up.

How about whats next is we show up about a year before the next election. How about whats next is we support the challengers of the people who voted for this monstrosity with money and volunteer time.

How about whats next is we quit thinking defense, start thinking about education for non gun people on why gun rights are important, make sure our act is clean(I think it is,,,,,mostly), and take the initiative a bit.

Handguns are always first on the chopping block. Look for more and more restrictions on the "pistol permit." Believe me, they are just getting started. The endgame for them is to create so many prohibited categories and so many potential fine print technical criminal charges for the law-abiding (through things like storage and registration and lost reporting laws) that new handgun ownership will decline through intimidation.

They'll want "military caliber" weapons. This already how it is in much of the world. It's the reason Glock makes .380's, they can't export their other guns to much of the world.

Handguns that take a round over a certain diameter or that displaces too many ft/lbs. of energy. i.e. Australia where I am told .38 Spl. is the most powerful handgun you can own (and no 9mm either).

Pump actions. They're scary! Lever actions, John Wayne could fire one faster than an assault rifle in his movies! No one needs that kind of firepower!

Bolt rifles and double barrel shotguns will come last, as they don't want to upset those fudds who were all for the first AWB in the hopes of protecting their own guns. But the gun-grabbers will get to them too, eventually.

And I won't feel a damn bit sorry for them either.

    Since we are here:

We can look to other states for where we are headed.

San Fran just banned hollow points absolutely, NJ sort of does in a half assed way.
NY cranked down the magazine limit.
If AR15s are bad because of rapid reloading, then all semi-auto rifles need to go (I.e., Aus, UK)
Pump action 12 gauge is more destructive then semi-auto rifles when used against defenseless crowds at short range, in my opinion, so ban em like AUS/UK. I already have gun-grabbing acquaintances who are talking about that kind of ban.

And mark my words: this SB281 purchase license if passed will morph into a required ownership license in five years or less. O'Malley's legislative aide was crowing about NY, NJ, CT, & MA and their Gun Safety(tm) laws. 3 out of 4 have ownership licensing for handguns.

This. They want all guns banned. The only way they can get that is through incrementalism. They are therefore going to target whatever affects the least amount of people, knowing full well that it won't solve any problem, and then use the argument that their current restrictions aren't enough and more is needed to prevent the evil. I mean, really, with an AWB, what statistics could they ever cite to prove its effectiveness? Five murders with rifles of any kind over two years? Maybe they could say "gun crimes with scary rifles dropped 50% last year" or something. Regardless, how many gang members are buying guns on the books? How are those numbers going to drop? These laws won't do anything, and then next year they'll come back saying that past laws didn't work and more restrictions are needed.

Possession. Of assault rifle, large capacity magazines holding more than 3 rounds, strange bullets with hollow points, etc.

Firearms have never been the objective of this; people are. If they get a law to require fingerprints for firearm ownership the next obvious step is to require your DNA for their database. They absolutely believe everyone is a criminal, they only need the evidence to prove it in court and then they can disarm everyone. Nirvana police state.

Handguns. Suddenly they will display an appreciation of statistics.

"Handguns kill ten times the number of people as assault weapons! We must ban them!"

I'd say that ammunition offers low-hanging fruit. Ban online sales, make background checks necessary, levy an ammo tax, limit sales to 4 boxes per transaction, require keeping an ammo log and reporting anyone who buys more than 500 rounds in a month, ban certain ammunition types (including vaguely defined "hollowpoint" ammunition), and ban the sale of lead ammunition in any store that sells food. Anything that makes ammunition impractical to buy and sell is fair game. They've already started to rally: "Anyone can buy ammunition, even criminals! Why do you need 200 bullets? Are you a lousy shot or are you some kind of crazy fringe militia?"

It's genius. How do we recruit new shooters? We take them to the range, right? A mountain of ammo regulations dooms us to a slow death.

Remember: these people are playing a long-term game.
