Hunting this weekend

Hello everyone,

I went out to Green Ridge State Forest last weekend with some guys from work as Saturday was the first day of the season. While as a group we had great success, I personally was not able to bring anything down that trip.

After I had come back home on Sunday, I went and scouted out an area at Liberty Reservoir that looked like it will be a good spot. I plan on being out there early morning this Saturday. I tried Googling the area, and the only feedback I could seem to find was all from several years ago. Everything I read though was that it was a good area, as is Loch Raven. Anyone have any hunting experiance with either of these places?

Don't hunt public land, to many nuts out there. I hunt private land so I know where everybody is and who to stay away from. But there are a couple people on here that will be able to help you out

Never had luck up loch raven luckily I'm back in my hunting club private land. Seems like some goof always walking in my spot on public land

I second that for public land. Last year while in my stand I had some goof actually place traps near my stand…..when confronted, he stated he wasn't hunting deer so it didn't matter.

Never had any issues at Loch Raven or Liberty, other then the occasional horse on the fire road.

Loch Raven is a great place to hunt as long as you don't mind someone seeing you and asking "HAVE YOU SEEN ANYTHING YET???????"

Packed up my little stool and crossbow and went home.

Private only for me.

Been awhile since hunting public, one thing is constant no matter where you are. It will be less crowded if you can get there during the week. Weekend public hunting, sucks. If you can get out of work early or go in late, use that time to hit the fields. Find somewhere near your work and try it.

It's safeish as long as it's only bow season but look out when squirrel season comes in.

Green Ridge is where I was almost shot during deer season back in the 80s. I have very blonde hair and was hunting from the ground I take a drink from my canteen and take my hat off to wipe my brow. Next thing you know, I hear a shot buzz past my head. Next thing this idiot comes running through the woods thinking he had just killed a deer. Well he almost killed me.

That's why I wear some kind of cap or netting even on private property.

I was too scared to be mad. He ran off as quickly as he appeared once he saw me. It was a learning experience for me however.
