I did speak to a cpl in the licensing division today and he indicated that they didn't have to many HQL's submitted. This may be the reason they are getting reviewed in a timely manor.

Interesting...I guess the HQL background check trumps all those backlogged 77rs...

They want to make the HQL "easy" to get in order to show that it is not an encumbrance to your acquisition of a hand gun.

I did mine yesterday afternoon right after I did my fingerprinting and I just checked the website and it still says the only thing completed is my payment. Everything else is still "unchecked". This concerns me since I was told the fingerprints only stay in the system for 72 hours. I did them at the Sheriffs office.

Livescan at American Identity in Rockville yesterday around 4 pm and submitted around 5pm. Finally got full complete today around 10 pm (for some reason CJIS was stuck on incomplete for a while). Still says Pending on the app itself.

That's only if you can afford it though. The process to get one is probably easy but those living check to check and gotta sacrifice something like less food, less gas money to spend $200 on a HQL is where the HQL gets dicey. People who can afford the HQL and won't get it simply feel they shouldn't need a HQL to exercise a right thats been around since day one in this land. I can't blame them either! I feel the same. But I'm in a place where I need some upgraded firepower handgun wise. I have the AR 15 as far as rifles but I truly need to upgrade my handgun collection. So I'll be forced to get a HQL at some point aslong as I'm in Maryland.

Per the website : Incomplete - Application Section is pending additional information, you will be contacted

I think I entered my Transaction Control Number ZO...

I called them and they said that in general that means they are waiting for a response from the FBI.

( Their voicemail also mentioned contacting: msp.handgunpermits@maryland.gov )

.32 Handgun Qualification License—Issuance and Denial.

A. In accordance with Public Safety Article, §5-117.1(h), Annotated Code of Maryland, the Secretary shall issue a Handgun Qualification License or provide a written denial of the application within 30 days after receiving a properly completed application.

B. A properly completed application satisfies all the requirements prescribed by the Secretary.​

I just noticed that the login page says to use IE, other browsers are not supported. I don't recall seeing that warning when I applied last night.

My livescan read incomplete. I called the MSP police (one for HQL).. lady had no idea about the requirements and what I was asking her to look at...gave up. Then one hour later it changed to complete. I'd say just wait it out.
