This is (supposedly) for administrative purposes, to get advice from the newb lawyer....

The chairman challenged him to enlighten us and he politely declined. I appreciated the chairman a effort. Hopefully the chairman will give us a synopsis when he comes back.

Their closed hearings are probably another violation of MD law.

All hearings for licenses or permits must be open per MD statute.

The HVAC licensing board goes into closed session to discuss individual cases. I assumed all licensing through DLLR did the same.

If they closed the meeting to receive advice from counsel, and they did so lawfully, by law, they must limit all discussion in closed session to that topic and must go back into open session for the remainder of the discussion.

But, alas, with none of "us" in the room, we'll never know and can't hold them accountable.

Operating under the DPSCS means they should have DPSCS staff counsel. I think.
And that's who their lawyer (as of tonight's meeting) is.

The guy just wasn't (don't blame him) going to speak off the cuff in front of everyone.

Yeah, i can't fault him for not wanting to open his mouth in front of us, especially if he's not required to.

A complete review of all info provided by applicant and msp needs to be done during a hearing. Will not conduct any reviews tonight.
