They called three of my four offered contacts: two simple long-time social contacts, and one long-time business contact. They didn't bother calling the county detective, who was the first one on the list. I figured that they assumed if I was happy enough listing a long-time LEO as a reference, I wasn't expecting him to be anything but positive. Who knows. Maybe they used the Who Should We Call Ouiji And Dart Board set at the LD.

She called all 4 of minds plus the Girlfriend..... And seem to be more concerned if I was a violent person or used illegal drugs anything else. No positive questions asked do I do charity work have I been trained in firearms Do I follow the laws and the rules and regulations.... All she was checking was these bad things If i was evil and how much money I had.... The task of ccw permits should be removed from the state police hand .....

When i got my first carry permit years ago i found it funny that out of all the questions they asked, the one that they never asked me was " do you know how to shoot a gun?"

Actually, you get the "how to shoot" in the 16 hour class, and you have to pass live fire to complete the class.

(Unless you are exempt, ie DD214, in which case you already know more about guns than Maryland could teach you.)

Just to provide a current timeline for those in the works. My permit was received yesterday, and that was almost exactly 60 days from the day they received it.

This was long ago prior to the training requirements.

Seems like special circumstances... not just the run-of-the-mill "business" permit.

Is there a defined meaning to the restrictions one would have if they were able to get the coveted W&C for Maryland. I have asked many different agencies and all have a different definition of a restriction. What I do not want to happen is a officer from one county reading a restriction one way and a second another. I was talking to a LD member and all the restrictions of late are canned, While conducting business as..., While employed as..., While transporting...., While maintains employment with...., Looking for a more comprehensive definition of what all these mean.

    Thanks

Don't talk to the police without a lawyer.

I say again. Don't talk to the police without a lawyer.

    5th amendment is still valid.

    Permit process

Just adding another timeline. Looks like they are either caught up? Or maybe very few applications in the pipeline ?

Submitted package late Feb/ very early March. Check cashed 1 week after, investigator called at the end of that week and scheduled interview for March 15. Interview lasted 10 minutes. Yes 10. Permit arrived exactly 30 days after. (April 15).

Noted they have civilian or contractor investigators now. Troopers do not conduct the interviews anymore. My investigator called all my references 5 minutes after I walked out the door.

Another reason I won't be providing tax returns, bank statements and all the other bullschit they've tried to get applicants to provide over the years.
