As promised to Mawkie, here's a crop of Hi Powers:

    #1 is a Lithuanian Contract pre-war gun
#2 is a tangent sight, no slot occupation gun with WaA613 waffenampts
#3 is a fixed sight, no slot occupation with WaA140 waffenampts
    #4 is a very early Inglis No.2 (pre-MkI*) "0T" series rig

All are original finish non-import with the correct grips and mags except the WaA613, which has a generic war-era mag. More on each to follow...

    Lithesome Lithuanian

This one is pretty rare with somewhere around 7200 made, very few show up nowadays. Lithuania was over-run (several times) not long after these were delivered so it's a tough gun to find in original condition. Most of the small parts have the boxy crest stamp. Amazingly, the original magazine is still with the gun. Unlike later HP's the back of the wood grips are natural, not painted red which is proper for the pre-war contract guns. It also has a unique "staple" type fixed lanyard loop on the butt. It cost me my only Luger (1917 Artillery w/ matching mag) in trade but was well worth it. Note the high quality polish and finish...

Oops. Does anyone have a good screen cleaning product...mine seems to be messy all of a sudden.

Nice grouping. I'd be quite willing to adopt any of those poor European orphans.

    Thanks for sharing the Viagra.

    WaA613

This is in the second batch of occupation HPs, the first being the really rare slotted WaA613's (which were captured with the factory and marked by zee Germans). This one is at the tail end of the WaA613 marked guns and actually outside the range described in Jan Stills' Axis Pistols, but within ranges speculated by others. Tangent sight, no stock slot. It's in the worst shape of the four with some old rust pitting and speckling in the finish, and a later war magazine. But these are pretty hard to find too and I'll take it :).

    WaA140

This one is in really nice shape, most common of the war HP pistols. Has a correct WaA140 magazine. It's interesting to note how poor the final machining and polishing is, with the marks running every which way too. This one is in the "alpha" block so mid-war I believe, maybe late 43, early 44? Fixed sights and no stock slot.

Excellent collection.!! Just really nice. 1 question though...do all of them have the magazine safety on them?

    Thanks!

Great question, and the answer to that is.... the WaA140 does NOT have the mag safety but the others do. It's possible it was left out, I haven't taken it apart to see if it's a lost part, on purpose, sabotage, what have you. Worth digging into some reference material ...

and this just in ... looked up in the new Vanderlinden book, and he states that with the "alpha" block the Germans eliminated the magazine safety (probably to speed up production). Eh, who needs it anyway.

    Inglis No.2

This is a very early example of a Canadian-made Inglis Hi Power No.2 (fixed sight, no slot). It's interesting because it doesn't have the MK I* markings on the left slide. Early "0T" s/n with original grey/green parkerized finish, hand pantographed markings on barrel. Correct canvas holster w/rod, the spare JI mag is a mess I picked up on GB that I managed to beat back more less into shape (not one of my better scores). This rig was probably one of the better deals from a JackTheDog auction :). I was shocked to win it. I bailed out of a "10T" recently when it went ballistic at the end.

I hope you realize just how much money I'm likely to spend on GB tonight thanks to you.

sorry. I forgot to post that I won't be held liable for bankruptcy or incidents involving spluge damage.

there are a few good deals on there right now ...
and some not so much (can you say Jackson Armory? I knew you could...).

Just a heads-up, here's a really nice Inglis No.2 MK I* ("6T" series) for sale on the interweb. I've gotten several good deals from this guy (including the WaA613 above) and he sends overnight to C&R in MD, no CC or shipping fees - built into the price. This just showed up today and I doubt it will last long. Original finish, matching #'s, non-import but incorrect mag. He has it at $975 which includes the shipping, as mentioned. No-nonsense, honest guy to deal with.
