I've been eyeballing the Fortis Rev handguard in 14" FDE for my new build. And it's not $400. IIRC it's around $275.

I like modular rails. For a rifle, I used JP Enterprises modular hand guard. It uses an inner and outer nut and the rail is tightly held:

For my .300 Blackout, I chose the Daniel Defense Modular Float rail. It fit over the low profile gas block that came with the barrel. It's not coming off because I had the flash suppressor pinned on, so the barrel nut is there for good. The set screws that hold the tube to the nut go in at a 45 degree angle. Seems quite secure.

Pretty rails do nothing for me, but badass rails do. I'd be looking at the URX 3.1 or the Geissele SMR.

12.37 Samson Evolution on a 14.5" BCM (just installed this yesterday! :D ) I havent shot with it yet but I shouldered it and cranked on it like I do when I shoot and it doesnt budge. It took 20 min to install and most of that time was watching the Samson install video lol. I preinstalled the bottom rail for the AFG before I installed the handguard.

Loving the pics and I appreciate all the input fellas. I was really leaning towards the 14.5 but the 16's look sweet too. Hmm. Some of the rails in the pics are sweet as hell.

My favorite rails right now are fortis rev and geisseles rails, both are awesome.

Daniel defense mk18 rail is really nice too

I sure love your taste in guns. Is that one with the 12" Rev in FDE comfortable to hold and as light as it looks?

I was wondering how long it would be before somebody mentioned JP Rifles handguard. That is what I am going to go with on my builds. JP also has a newer version of its handguard. Supposedly, easier to attach accessories to it,

I have just a few comments. Just this week I rebuilt my 3-gun and I replaced the Samson Evo that was on my Stag 3GH upper with the AP Custom 15" railed carbon fiber handguard. A featherweight handguard that makes even the Samson, Troy, or MI seem bloated and fat weight wise (or any other modular aluminum one). Has a much better attachment than any of those. The caveat is that you have to take the barrel off because its mount sandwiches the barrel nut and an alloy piece goes behind it. Better than the CF mounts that use glue. Also updated my 3-gun with WMD upper receiver and BCG in Nickel-Boron. I will do a picture when I get a chance this week. I earlier put an AP Custom CF one on my AR15-22 to try out and I found I loved it. Their mount is actually more rigid than any of those others also.

It's not that light because it has a stainless steel barrel, ubr stock and noveske pig, but it's very comfortable and the fortis rail is super light and I really like it. Well made and they have excellent customer service.
