    All kidding aside, I am looking to build something like the Timberwolf TW-6 with a log lift and an adjustable wedge. The thing retails for $10k, which would require me to get into the firewood business to justify it. I can get the majority of the hydraulics and the engine for $3k. Just need to get the steel and a welder. Figure the money I save will pay for the welder and then a couple of guns, and this log splitter will reduce the amount of time each year I have to spend processing firewood. Plus, the log lift will be nice as I get older and those 5 foot rounds become a PITA to split on a vertical/horizontal splitter.
