Can you give us any more info on the ammo policy? I think you had posted that you were considering steel case. Please tell me you are not going the "frangible only" route.

Looking forward to checking out your range.

It would be fine to bring the kids. Of course, parents and guardians must be scrupulously watchful and responsible. We will make a judgment call on whether the kids and the parents pass the "responsibility" test.

We definitely will not go the frangible only route. We are thinking about the steel case situation. We would like to avoid mixing steel cases with brass. Do you think shooters using steel cased ammo would strip out their steel casings if we supplied magnetic sweepers?

Hap Baker provides those and I'm not aware of them having a problem. Steel cases go in the trash while brass is placed in buckets, or perhaps pushed forward of the line as with an indoor range such as Continental.

Yes. Given the two options, I think those who pick steel cased ammo would, in exchange for being able to use it.

MW, in the past the folks at Continental have said that I could have "visitation rights" during the paperwork wait time. That was maybe seven years ago and I do not think any law has changed. There is one issue however, I like to strip and clean a new gun before I use it. Unless the facility is setup to allow a shooter to clean a gun, the buyer would be faced with an interesting dilemma. Shoot a gun that hasn't been inspected and cleaned and lubed or just wait.

Ok i understand the gun cleaning first...
But if it was class 3 NFA suppressor you got to visit while waiting that would be awesome!!!

The only thing I ask is that you give me a hard time about picking up my brass, and any that people give me. That's been my experience at a few places.

Agreed, but I find most of the folks at Hap Baker to be more responsible than some of the gangsta wanna be's that frequent the local indoor ranges.....heck you can't even get them to sweep their brass or put their trash in the proper containers.

only about 50% of the shooters seperate the steel from the brass. the others just throw everything in the brass bucket including the aluminum which doesn't pick-up by magnet.
I spend about 2 hours a week seperating.

Good observation. Seems like we have a budding policy for steel cased ammo.

I am all for it. I shoot some of the steel case ammo from time to time in my Makarov and I have some steel case .380 that I picked up in a trade.

I think it would be a great policy to have, especially if the range supplied the magnetic 'sweeper'.
