Since the m1 garand and mosin are exempt from the assault list. Does this mean I can buy one unregulated? Just cash and carry or am I dreaming?

If you don't mind the length, buy yourself a nice Turkish Model 1938 Mauser or Yugoslavian Model 1948/48A. Both are 8mm mauser and rounds are about 40 cents each.

Better feeding. Better sights. Better mechanics. BETTER!

Hell if you want to go 8mm, the right answer is FN-49 and Hakim. MG13 Mags can be adapted to work in the Hakim (25rds 8mm), and are only $10/mag on sale now at IMA.

Just proves that Ruger fan-boys are unbalanced. Notice how they depicted the scariest-looking Mini-14 they could find. Wouldn't look like much with a wood stock and a 5-rd mag.

Order a Service Grade HRA and buy a pistol or AR15 the same day. You'll probably get the M1 first.

NOPE! This bill (SB281) has nothing to do with public safety, "assault weapons", or lethality. It does nothing to prevent real criminals or the mentally disturbed from gaining access to deadly weapons. It's a feel good bill.

My SG-43 is "OK" under the ban.

IDK, I consider a 8mm semi-auto rifle like the Hakim at $495 Buy It Now, on Gun Broker with the ability to take a 25 round or 10 round detachable magazine without being considered an "assault rifle" a bargain. The FN-49 in .308 can still be had for around $800 and the 8mm variety are as low as $600. Not quite Mosin Nagant territory, but bargains as far as Semi-Auto's go... especially when you consider the FN-49 in .308 also has detachable magazines.

It's a solid platform and a reliable performer.
