Why would any one person have more of a right to defense than any other?

There are 1000s of ordinary citizens every year who don't get to make the choice to run to or from danger. The danger comes and finds them, and they don't get to go home to their loved ones either.

The risk that ordinary citizens face is *exactly* the same as that police officers face. The fact that police officers face that risk more often is irrelevant. Who is in that "risk" situation before the police arrive (and likely made the call for assistance)?

Yeah and sometimes they cower behind concrete planters while children are slaughtered inside a school.
Just curious... how many times in your life have you run to the sound of gunfire? How many times have you run to the report of gunfire? How many times have you run to put yourself between a bad guy and a victim you didn't know? How many times have you left your children's birthday party to go investigate a violent felony on your "day off"?

I'm not getting involved in this argument going on here, but your statements sure do give the impression that you want to paint all cops with the same stain that only a few have deserved...

By the way, local governments are elected by the people. Laws are enacted by those that are elected. Perhaps you would be better served by taking your arguments to the voters or law makers. By the time the law is passed and enforced by cops, it's often too late for the argument against it. I think these laws are absurd. They don't make anyone safer, they just make liberals feel a little better and allow the anti 2A crowd to slowly chip away at our rights. But arguing with MD cops about a NJ law is a foolish argument... one I'd rather not join.

    Goodnight all...

You sure ramble a lot for someone not getting involved.

I've never ran towards the sound of gun fire. Ducked then walked down the street, yes. I've also never been paid to put myself between a bad guy and a victim. And I've certainly never been granted special rights that ordinary citizens don't have just because of my job.

What statement or part of a statement lead you to believe I'm trying to paint all cops with the same stain?

And in what world do you live in that it's ever "too late to argue" against a law?

I'm sure glad you didn't join in this argument.

If the legislators ever get their utopia of a disarmed populace in the U.S., they have already shown their disdain for police and will remove those carve outs with glee. Even if that disarmament is by law only, they will pull support for the carve outs. If they could reduce the population to being allowed single shot break open shotguns under the 2A, what do you think they will leave for the police force? They will move the applicable force lower in lock step with civilian restrictions until all of it is done. One only has to look at the policing model in the UK which is the end game.

I feel strongly that LEOs should have the best equipment that they can carry. They aren't the folks who dream up restrictive laws, it's the socialist/progressive politicians. I want LEOs to be able to defend themselves, even if the rest of us can't.

Now, that being said, I think the folks who make and enforce policy at the LD should face the same restrictions we mere mortals do.

Agreed. I haven't met a single police officer that is happy w/ the MD gun laws. Talk to them at the range and they will never come across as a gun grabbin cop.

It seems like we are being pushed into the stone age! In Vietnam era we had to be given permission to shoot back, even if receiving fire! Looks like LE are suffering a similar fate in Maryland. If it does have to happen it should be the Police (like Baltimore Chief & Sheriff's) who supported the bill. No officer guarding governor should have a firearm or even a 10 round.
This is a sad state of affairs!!

It's not their personal opinion that matters. They can hate the gun laws all they want, but so long as they carry out the orders, they are "gun grabbing"

Yeah, I'm sure there are people out there who, as cops are taking their guns don't think those cops are gun grabbers. I 100% believe that after reading some threads on here.

I'm sure there are people out there that know the cops are following the law as written by the law makers. And will do everything they can to get those lawmakers removed. If you don't like the law then let's get it changed, struck down, or repealed.
