I have an opportunity to purchase this rifle. I do have it in hand (just took these photos). The asking price is $100. Good deal or not?

    It's a 1944

I'd buy it. All you need are a few parts and you can have a rifle that is back in service condition. You need a new fore end, 2 top handguards with barrel bands, front sight protector, and a new buttplate. It would be fun to restore. Check to make sure the bolt matches the receiver first.

It's a $75-$100 deer gun. Need about $175+ in parts to make her a mix master dressed #4.

I'd buy it at $50-$75. But I have plenty of sported #4's.

Given the poor condition of the metal I might try and knock a little of the price. But for a functional Enfield $100 ain't bad. Is the bore good?

It's priced less than a 91/30 mosin. I'd get it. The bore is everything. The outside is character.

He's pretty firm on $100 b/c that's how much he paid for it when he originally got it. It was a closet gun for the time he had it (the thing was coated in dust). Since it gets Yellowsled's approval, that's good enough for me ;)

Yeah, gonna go ahead and give him the money for it. He gave it to me to take home and give it a look over before I decided whether or not to get it. Anyone have any experience with Apex Gun Parts (http://www.apexgunparts.com). I found this site while searching for Enfield parts and they seem to have a nice selection but I've never heard of them...

what is the number on the bolt head. Enfields can have headspace issues. I'd put some rounds through it if you can.
