So sorry to hear this sad news. America lost a patriot today, and Maryland lost a champion for liberty. My prayers are up for his family and friends. He will be missed.

I'm going to quote Henley's Invictus (unconquered) in memory of our MDS warrior ...

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.
    .
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
    .
Beyond this place of wrath and fears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
    .
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul

Ed lived on his terms and was steadfast in his defense of liberty.

That explains my dread feeling this morning.

So sorry to lose a friend, but relieved to know his suffering has ended.

Ed was among my first MDS acquaintances, meeting at an event shortly after I first joined. He quickly became a friend and trusted ally, often going well out of his way to help others and join the fight.

    He will be sorely missed.

I'm extremely sorry to hear this.

In the words of General Anthony McAuliffe. "Nuts!"

Very sorry to hear this. I first met Ed when we both worked at Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) back in the 80’s. We lost touch in the 90’s. His name popped up about 8 years ago again when talking with a fellow DECcie about a reunion. He reached out to me when I joined MDS. I hoped I would see him at a PP or MSI event. God bless Ed and his family. RIP friend. fred55

Here's a slightly more focussed pic of Ed Leary (on the right), Rack (in the middle) and Dick Heller...

That advertising flyer that Dick Heller is signing in the picture above was on the wall just over Ed’s hospice bed.

The funny story is that when Smith & Wesson created that commemorative Model 442 with the Heller rollmark on it, they evidently neglected to tell Dick about it, or compensate him.

It gave Dick Heller a belly laugh to sign this impressive print for a revolver that he never got a nickel from!

Heller and Leary, two good sports!
