    Another forum generated another suggestion!

New seal kit. Ok y’all here is where you come into play. Air gun actions are new to me. Firearms, not nearly so. I am capable of tearing this down, I know, yet never have. Anyone point me to the direction of locating a proper seal kit for my arm? Any sort of reading reference or link for me to access would be terrific! I’ll do some digging independently and report anything I find as well. Much obliged!

Crosman will sell you any parts you need. The only pain is that you have to call them. Usually I get a woman who sounds like she is my age (over 70) but she is very helpful.

    Does it need new seals?
I have had mixed results taking one down to that level (one went in the trash after my attempt). You may need a press to get it back together. I used a loooooong Dewalt wood clamp with success.

All that said, I wouldn't get into the seals unless you had good reason to. I'm fine with firearms but air stuff hasn't gone nearly as well for me over the years.

I have to agree. I shoot thousands of pellets a year and I only rebuilt my Gamo Wildcat once. It really didn't need seals but the cocking arm was rough and it was getting on my nerves. The seals they use today are not rubber and last almost forever.

My breach seal appears semi flattened directly at 12 o’clock…could account for the height issue, regardless it’s not helping anything.

Went to pyramid air and have a new 25mm breach seal, some gamo rocket’s as a recommendation, an H&N flavor domed lead 18gr, and some cleaning pellets headed my way. Said it’d be here by Black Friday. Will report back in when above tinkering is complete.

Depending on my level of interest, if I were to go further down the rabbit hole….an RWS Diana seems to be a swell trainer to add. I enjoy the process of making something work. Hence this entire endeavor. However, I can easily see something from their line fitting my needs. In an attempt to better inform myself on their product line, I can’t seem to find a general “manufacturer’s homepage” so to say. I suppose I can click the various listings and thumb through. Oooh maybe download a 2022 or 2023 catalogue and read. I see their 48 line uses a side cocker. That’s an entirely new thing to read upon alone!

I owned Diana's when they were Walnut and Steel. They were very accurate and great for training. Today I see they use a Beech stock and a replaceable barrel I guess for people who want to shoot .177 and .22.

One thing you should think about when buying a spring/gas spring break barrel rifle is the cocking effort. The R34 has a cocking effort of 30 pounds. The R48 has a cocking effort of 39 pounds. Side cockers have a fixed barrel so they are not prone to barrel droop. It is a little harder to put the pellet in the breech.

Oh, btw, the guns you mention cost 4x more than your Crosman.

I have a liking of the 350 magnum. One package comes with their rail system and an optic. Very tempting at $500 mailed to me. I’ll see if the bug bites. Still want to do what I can with this Crosman

It is a gopher hole in which one can go a looooooooong ways down!

I prefer the EU guns over the others and something I cock over a PCP (had the PCP's and may do it again but just not my thing).

Side cocking is a bit easier on a bench and I like that the barrel is fixed. There is also undercocking options where the barrel is fixed also (HW 97 for instance) that has some gains.

I am not a fan of package deals as the scope is often now worth much and I end up replacing it anyways.

I have a couple thoughts Re : Crosman

If this new breach seal and shimming the scope doesn’t get us back down in elevation, I am not entirely ruling out bent barrel. That seems to be a “thing” in these.

True, it could have barrel droop. Here is a link to one of Tom Gaylord's posts. He has many on Pyramid Air's website so you can look through them and figure out what works for you. Tom is one of the most knowledgeable air gun people I know. There are others but he writes down everything to pass on his knowledge. :party29:

That’s another thing I’ve been reading about. That shimming should try to address that short of an adjustable mount. I don’t know that I wish to invest tooooo much money into this. I’m hoping to use five soda can shims and go from there. The droop is a real thing!!

    Thank you muchly!

5 shims is a lot, watch out or you'll bend/break the scope.

May be time to let that Crossman go. Some of them can't be made to shoot well enough for reasonable $$. Better off to spend that $$/time in something which is more solid from the start and will last you a lifetime.

If you want a springer for skinny money, I recommend the Gamo Wildcat Wisper in .22. They love Crosman Premier pellets ( $7/500 at Wallyworld), they are one hole accurate at 45 feet and they take squirrels and groundhogs at 20 yards DRT.

The only thing they need is a better scope and a longer trigger screw to get the best out of the trigger.

Well we’re just making the best of what this particular rifle has to offer.

I am going to be patient on a Weirhauch 50S. Set it up with a Williams FP-AG-TK
