Oh ok thanks! Im definitely set on 70. Now, do I get that or a few scopes first....

Check out the Ruger SR1911... It is a Series 70 that passes all of the Drop Tests. (due to a titanium firing pin) And... it is a damn fine example of good 1911 in stainless. The review for it is in the link.

I had a Series 70 Government Model, years ago.
Because of the 'standard' ejection port, it BASHED the living crap out of casemouths.

I sold it and picked up a Series 80 Gold Cup NM.
I changed out the grip panels and the mainspring housing (due to my big, fat hands!)
I replaced the sear, the hammer, and installed a beavertail grip safety about 5 years ago, IF memory serves me.
This trigger is a crisp 3.5 lbs.

This grand ole Colt has had thousands of rounds put through it, and is still extremely accurate.

With both the Series 70 and the Series 80, the 'trick' to maintaining good accuracy, is to NOT remove the collet bushing from the barrel. Ever.
    (Work around it while cleaning.)
